The Hitler of South Africa

I suspect at some point he will disappear, aka a Jimmy Hoffa or a Hudson Six Departure.

Different set of circumstances preceded Hitler, et al. South Africa has its share of issues but there's a lot of money at stake with their success or failure. Except for the patent alarmists, this guy is just noise.

He doesn't seem to like white folks much.
 
Malema has a constituency, and they can't be ignored. I believe his party, while small in numbers, is the third largest in the South African Parliament.

The issue is that the ANC has never delivered on the promises made after the end of apartheid. Instead, the level of corruption has increased since Mandela left office, culminating in a true kleptocracy under Zuma. Ramaphosa is facing serious challenges in rooting this out, with the latest example being issues surrounding Eskom and electricity blackouts.

So someone has to shoulder the blame, and Malema has found that it's easy to go after those who still control the land and the wealth - which are typically non-black South Africans - than it is to go after the blacks who have looted, and continue to loot, the national treasury. Having said that, he has not spared the ANC in his vitriol.

This is a fairly common scenario. When a revolution of sorts occurs, and the promises of the revolution are not kept, people lash out at the obvious targets, and if that does not fix the problem, they begin to eat their own. Not much new under the sun.

Those who own most of the land and the wealth in South Africa can try to work with the government to find a solution to the challenges facing the nation, or sit on the outside looking in. I know where I'd rather be.
 
More than half of South Africans have never lived under apartheid (young age structure and heavy immigration), yet many still believe it is the reason they are poor. Everyone likes to believe that someone else is the cause of all their problems..absolves one of responsibility. Julius Malema (aka melena) spews hatred for whites. In a country where they are such a small minority, that should be concerning. Especially coming from a prominent politician. History is full of people like him.....regrettably many of them rose to power. The US news was full of reports from South Africa under apartheid.....not much news from RSA shown here now........FWB

It comes down to a mistaken and unfortunately prevelant belief in the west that racism against white people does not exist or is "impossible". The first problem is that anyone can be racist against anyone just like you have individual white people who are racist against blacks you have individual black people who are racist against whites. But moving on to institutional racism, say Zimbabwean style confiscation of land from and expulsion of whites, is highly unlikely, if not impossible, in say Canada or the US at the mommet. Simply, because white people are still a majority and in control of the security apparatuses, the government etc... While in South Africa its completely different. The security forces and government is in the control of the majority black population. They certainly could decide to engage in systematic racism against the white population, because they hold most of the power being the vast majority of the population.
 
If someone makes him ‘disappear’ he will get more support. The best way to stop the Hitler of South Africa is to convict of stealing from the country, corruption, or a heinous crime

I think there are two strategies underway. One is that by making outrageous statements that are only starting to get heard beyond SA Malema puts ANC on the defensive as the same statements from them would gain much more negative attention. This is just Malema's route to more power. He can say property seizure without compensation and not have to deal with the consequences.

Secondarily there are some who want to drive whites out of the country so that they can get down to a black on black horror show in private, though I don't know if Malema has that in mind, he doesn't have enough power to benefit as yet.
 
Moving this post to Africapolitics.com may be appropriate, but having it here has no doubt benefitted many readers and caused some folk to change their hunt/vacation plans to visit elsewhere.
