Lake Safaris can offer free range Nyala hunting in South Africa. I hold exclusive hunting rights to 10 Nyala Bulls on this concession every year. There are also Bushbuck and Impala available, and from time to time some really good Kudu Bulls. The hunting area comprises roughly 20 000 acres and is located only 2 hours drive from Durban Airport in the Province of Kwa Zulu Natal. Accommodation is rustic, but all the necessary comforts such as clean linen and beds, flushing toilets, hot and cold water and good home cooked food are available. On a good day we should get to view 5 to 15 Nyala Bulls. I have had almost a 100% success rate in this area over the last 10 years with many happy clients. References available. Kindly view my galleries to access photos of the area and some of the trophies taken.

Daily rate $425 1x1 and $400 2x1 per client per day (minimum 4 days)

Includes:
Accommodation,Meals and drinks (local wines, beers and beverages)
PH with hunting vehicle, Trackers and Skinners
Field preparation of trophies
Airport collection and drop off
Vat @ 14%

Excludes:
Half day daily rate on arrival and departure days
Tips for camp staff
Trophy delivery to Taxidermist in JHB @ $300

Trophy Fees:
Nyala $1950
Bushbuck $950
Imapla $400

This hunt can be extended to continue hunting other areas and species.

Trevor Lake

This is a great Nyala hunt.

Trevor area is spot and stalk...when we drove into the area you could see that it was managed for trophy hunting.

He will not disappoint you on getting a very good Nyala.

Yes, no excuse for one horn being half an inch shorter than the other :)

You see Blackburn, When we came up on 2 Nyala bulls feeding in the bottoms and Trevor was excited and told me to shoot, shoot, i had to ask him which one.

You see i was eye balling the one on the left that i thought was good and Trevor was Eye balling the one on the right that was real good. So i followed instructions and shot the one on the right. and walla that how i was able to secure this fine trophy.

The one on the left was maybe a 1 to 1 1/2 inches shorter than the one i shot.

I have learned that you have a real good one when the tracker fishes in his pocket and Diggs out his tape measure.

How come you shot a lop sided one? :)

You have to trust the trophy is awesome when the PH and tracker are having a hard time sitting still and they are saying shoot "in a not so quiet whisper".

I have to agree, when that tape comes ripping out of the trackers pocket before the guts are out, you likely have a huge trophy.

I know how you feel, when you have such a hard time choosing.
Too darn many of them standing around at Leeukop too. :)

Sure do have the genes for that Lyre shape in Natal.

enysse & Brickburn

I have chatted with Trevor and he as a couple openings for this year in April and May...

I do know that there are a few monsters on the property it is just finding them...they are not chained to a tree for you to have a go at.

James I thought you were going to be sneaking me into Zim as your assistant PH instead of the cooking oil aren't you?

Hey! Interestingly enough most typical Bulls in our area do not have the flare and I always consider this a bonus to get, as to me it represents the "classic Nyala". We work very hard to find Bulls like this and by no means are always successful. I always say to clients that allocating more time allows more selectivity, and defiantely helps to end up with a really nice looking Bull. If one hunts at the right time of year when the bush has thinned out a bit, and the weather conditions are right which consists of crisp cold nights with plenty of dew making the animals move more upslope in the mornings looking for sun, and again in the evenings, and we alloacte enough time, then our chances are up. On a good day I get to look over as many as 15 Bulls. I hunt a lot of plains game but Nyala and Bushbuck are definately at the top of my list!

Hunted with Trev in Sept '10 -- great hunt. Primeval Zulu valley, unfenced -- hasn't changed for thousands of years. Few places left like it.

Trevor probably doesnt remember this but I met him last summer at the airport in Bulawayo as I was linking up with Touch Africa. He was on his way to a lion hunt with his client in which they were successful I gather. It looks like he has a great area with lots of really good nyala. I took a smallish one in '09 in Limpopo. If I went again for nyala I would book with Lake.

Hi, small world! I do remember meeting you and it must be you as I only ever met one person in Bulawayo airprort this year:) We did eventually get the Lion and turned out to be one of the most cunning animals I have ever hunted. If you are comming this way and you would like to hunt Nyala email me on my personal email address: lakesafaris@telkomsa.net
Cheers!

Trevor is this the one you are looking for...
