Great report, looks like you had a wonderful first safari with many memorable moments and some great trophies.

So glad you had an awesome hunt. Hunting Eland in Namibia was one of my favorite hunts to date. Great report and great trip.

NULA is an abbreviation for New Ultralight Arms. I agree with your assessment of the affects of a bipod on a fully bedded barrel. Fortunately, I can now plan for that. The free-floated barrel of the Ruger Guide Gun was not affected similarly.

Thanks for clarification. I was confused with this abbreviation, but of course I do not have any knowledge or experience with... "Nula"... firearms.

BTW in my local language "nula" means zero, which added to my misunderstanding.

I don't know if he is related to Jaco or not.
However their last name being the same plus, they both live and PH in the Khomas Hochland Highlands suggests it is very probable.

I salute you for not allowing yourself to get bogged down / distracted by tape measures and record books.
The critters you bagged are all beauties.

I agree with BRICKBURN that the serpent looks like a horned adder but, I'm no expert.

I posted the picture of the Giraffes on Facebook with the caption that "All is well in the world when you begin your day with Giraffes".
I wanted to include the photo of Jan as he was truthfully one of my favorite people from this safari.
I had to show a picture of the spiders. They were a little disconcerting. The one in my room was HUGE. I called him Fred. He was a decent roommate.
The closeup of Eland I post to give some perspective on just how massive he was.

Velo Dog: I was not able to meet Errens. I would draw the same conclusion, though.

sierraone: New Ultralight Arms (www.newultralightarms.com) Great rifles. They are custom-made by Melvin Forbes in West Virginia. My rifle weighs slightly over six pounds with scope. There was an attempt a few years ago to turn out a production rifle by a company called Forbes. They used a Shaw barrel and did not have the options that NULA offers. They struggled with quality control and did not live up to the standards that Melvin expected. They eventually folded. The wait for a NULA can be a year, but you know that it will be perfect.
I have three Forbes rifles. My M24B .30-06 has been on two African hunts and is a great rifle. My M20B in .260 Remington is a decent rifle, but I need to work with it more. I recently picked up another M24B in .270 Winchester and had it rebarreled by Douglas Barrels (they make the barrels for NULA) to 9.3x62mm. It would not extract which is apparently one of the quality control issues that Forbes Rifles had. Melvin will work on Forbes rifles because his name is attached to them. I feel honored to have his hands work on my rifle.
I asked for barrel duplication from Douglas and they did a great job. However, it seemed to me that there was a slight difference. I promptly began working on the barrel channel myself. That didn't end well. Thus, Melvin is rebedding the barrel and giving me a custom paint job. I'm not looking forward to the bill for this, but I know that it will be perfect.

I have had several great hunts with Jaco, I even recognize the room you stayed in. Your great write-up bring back many happy memories. I hope to go again in 2019.

I should clarify something. Jaco did not know that I didn't have a good sight picture of an Eland bull when I shot through the brush. That was a long and frustrating day. However, I would hate for hunts to be easy.
