Well I agonized over this a bit, but have an opportunity for something interesting (Another double) but with the upcoming safari and a couple home improvement projects in the works something has to go to be able to close this deal. I will also put a couple bolt guns up in a few days when I get time to take some pics.

1st. Simson 405 Win Ejector double, is a great shooting double that I will provide load data for. and it shoots standard Hornaday 300gr spot on at 50 yards. Was proofed in 1933. Have load data for woodleigh, hawk, and hornaday 300gr softs. 14 1/4 LOP $7100 shipped to your FFL

2nd Chapuis UGEX 9.3x74 Ejector double. Took oit on safari in 2015 and used it on Sable and Cape eland. Shoot every factory 286 gr load I have tried spot on at 50. (Hornaday, Federal, Privi, and Selot bellott) I also have load data for 286 and 300 gr Swift A-frames softs and 286gr Northfork cupped point solids. 15 1/8 LOP. $5100 shipped to your FFL

There you go again, just when I had not wanted a double in a year or so now! By the way, on the Chapuis, if you took 1 1/8 inch off the stock to shorten the LOP, how would it affect handling, if at all?

If you take a 1 1/8 off it would shift the balance a little bit forward but would be easy to add a little weight to the butt stock if needed to get the balance correct for you. Once you shortened if you didn't work the balance you would have to see how it swings and tracks. It would balance a little bit forward of the hinge. (IE a little barrel heavy) Just depends on how you like the balance.

I really dig that Simson 405. Nice but of history that one.

Nice looking rifles, best of luck!

Looking forward to seeing the other bolt guns you plan on posting soon!

Another like for the Simson :)

Dave these are two nice ones. I didn’t realize that you had so many doubles. Hope what you have your eye on is worth the loss of these beauties.
I think it’s a great selling point when you can point to a hunting history a particular rifle has as is the case with the Chapuis in the bottom picture. The wood on that rifle looks like it was an upgrade when built.

Charlie I currently have 6. When I got the Chapuis originally I wanted a RGEX but couldn't afford it. I picked up a RGEX earlier this year in 9.3x74. So the decision to offer this one wasn't to hard. And yes the wood on this rifle is upgraded. The 405 I agonized over for a month before I decided to offer it for sale. It is a fantastic little rifle that shoot lights out. But part of the decision was that I have a 9.3 and a 45/70 and the 405 is right there in the same kinda power range. Yes the one I am looking to replace these two and a couple bolt guns with is worth the sacrifice. I won't say what till I have it don't want to jinx myself. A person can't go wrong with either of these.

@PHOENIX PHIL , Do you think we might be able to convince a federal judge to pull this young man's passport! If he can't go to Africa, he might just leave us alone!

Just remember in a month I am going to need Hyena bait:ROFLMAO:

"We?" Dave served in the army and while I'm not sure in exactly what role, I think he has a number of creative ways to inflict bodily harm. You're on your own!

The Chapuis UGEX 9.3x74 is sold. (y) The Simson 405 is still available.

Phil, Wes, Charlie, Cody and Dan, Dave finally hooked me! I tried to squirm, jump and splash like a 5 pound bass on a hook, but it did no good. I now own a DR!

So you got the 405?

So you got the 405?
No, the Chapuis 9.3x74R.
Not even sure what I will do with it just now. The .404 is going with me in July. I won't even see the DR until August or so. Like the dog chasing the pickup truck, now that I caught one, what to do with it!!!!!

That was sold on Wednesday when you tried to involve me in your crazy plot to put myself in harms way by preventing Dave's trip to Africa! What held up your announcement man?!

Congratulations!
Can only dream of it, but I sure do... :)
Happy someone on AH picked it up.
I’m sure you’ll find some use for it somewhere. You seem to be a resourceful man.
