Then I will provide you with one more picture.

Välkommen till AH forum. You have a nice gun. I think your theory is right with stock cracking. The action bedding with stock is too tight

So, now the rifle is sighted in and ready for some hunting. Adjusted an inch to the right after the picture was taken.

Welcome...nice classic rifle. Will work perfectly in South Africa for PG.

Welcome 9x57! Fine looking rifle. I’m anxious to see the results on some boars.

What fun!

Please add my welcome to all the others. Regarding your English, it is more than good enough. Our collective Swedish on the other hand just terrible at best and probably more like non-existent. I'd like to know a little more about the caliber of your rifle. It sounds a lot like our 35 Remington. What kind of velocity do you get from your hand loads? I use my 35 Remington with a peep sight for Hogs / Boars it is great when they are standing still. I also use my Sporterized 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser for Deer and Hogs. I took it to Africa in 2016 to use on the smaller Plains Game animals.

Thanks!
I load the 250 grains Hornady SP to about 650m/s in the 9x57. Worked fine on the boar I shot this evening. Got it just in top of the heart. Went straight down. Follow the below link to read a bit more about the 9x57 Mauser.

The 6,5x55 is a classic. My uncle shot over 400 moose with his Husqvarna in 6,5.

Just as I suspected your 9x57 Mauser and my 35 Remington are very similar ballistically. When the Hogs / Boars are in close, I prefer using peep sights over a scope. When possible I like to shoot the Hogs about two inched behind the ear and about 2 inches below the ear. The result is a spine shot and virtually no meat gets wasted.

I have now bought a Bold trigger for the rifle. Can't really get along with the original two stage trigger. I also think that I can improve the accuracy, even if it's not bad now as it is.
Had a Bold trigger on a M98 rifle that I owned in the past, and I was happy with it's perfomance.

Welcome ! Thanks for sharing pictures.

9x57, sorry I forgot about this thread. What do you mean by a Bold trigger? I'm unfamiliar with that term. Are you referring to a single stage trigger or perhaps a set trigger?

Bold is a brand of a single stage trigger. Similar as Timney. I have bought and checked it. But it doesn't fit without gunsmithing out of my competence.
