Great looking old bull

Very nice, congrats to the hunter!

Thank you Chriss, Michael, Simon and all your staff for a great experience at Mbizi! You guys went all out to make our stay a very memorable and fun one.

All your people performed well, are courteous and helpful and try to make your guests feel at home in the bush. The camp is very nice and the views from the deck outstanding.

The hunt was a lot of fun, even when getting my buf on the 2nd day. Of course, he cooperated by charging us in classic way and not taking the first shot and just laying down. Coming towards me like a locomotive, he did look like he was convinced I do owe him something. Chriss was great in standing right next to me and taking the follow-up shot. Thanks, Chriss!

Roan hunting was fun and it took a while to locate the right bull, but then he went down quickly. A magnificent trophy.

I can recommend a lechwe hunt in the Kafue flats for the abundance of game to be seen and the choices in good animals.

All in all, a very good hunt in a very wild part of true Africa!

Thank you Chris, it was a pleasure to have you with us.
All the best,
Michael

Thanks for the report @bubba-one, hope to see a full report in the reports section.

Sorry it has taken me so long to report on my hunt with Mbizi. I have been extremely busy with work since I returned.

I just want to let everyone know that if you want a great, true African adventure, please contact Michael and work out the details. This was my sixth trip to Africa. Four trips were to RSA, one to Zimbabwe (nightmare) and this trip to Zambia. Other than the trip to Zimbabwe ( I did write about how bad it was back in 2014) and a taxidermy issue back in 2011, I have had very good luck on taking good trophies, hunting with good people and just having very good adventures.

I will try to be brief. I contacted Michael of Mbizi after seeing an offer to hunt buffalo in Zambia. This was last spring and I was too late to get one of the four buffalo hunts Mbizi had available. After several emails between Michael and myself, I booked a hunt with Mbizi to hunt on the West Petuake GMA area which in across the river and north of the actual Mbizi property. I had informed Michael that this would probably be my last trip to Africa, that I wanted a true African hunting experience, I did not want an easy hunt and I did not want to be going through gates all day. I also told Michael that I was 62 years old and my knees were not the best in the world, so he had to find an area that was not "easy", but was not too difficult for an older man.
Michael told me that this would be a challenging hunt and that we would have to work hard to succeed.

Well, I got exactly what I was after. It was a difficult hunt physically, but not bad at all. The camp was rustic, yet comfortable. The food was fine and the staff was good. Simon Eldridge was the PH and he did an excellent job. He did not try to push me past my limits, he knew what type of buffalo I was after and kept the staff and trackers in a positive mood. We worked hard and were rewarded with a successful hunt that I will never forget.

After taking my buffalo and hippo, we drove back to Mbizi. I spent the last two nights there. This is a very nice, modern facility that is being improved daily with a new building being erected, new driveway, nice walk way lights, etc. The food was great. The view of the mountains and river are awesome and they have some outstanding animals on the property.

In short, Michael, Simon and the entire staff were great to be around. From getting you through the airport, both going in and coming out of Zambia, to understanding what you are looking for, Mbizi does an excellent job. They take care of you and do everything they can to make sure you have a great adventure. If I change my mind and decide to go to Africa once again, I plan to contact them about the leopard hunt I have always wanted to take.

Thank you Michael and Simon for some lifetime memories.

Great buff, thanks for the report
