Woman In Botswana Mauled By Leopard Inside Her Tent

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Common sense is sound practical judgment concerning everyday matters, or a basic ability to perceive, understand, and judge that is shared by ("common to") nearly all people.[1] The first type of common sense, good sense, can be described as "the knack for seeing things as they are, and doing things as they ought to be done." The second type is sometimes described as folk wisdom, "signifying unreflective knowledge not reliant on specialized training or deliberative thought." The two types are intertwined, as the person who has common sense is in touch with common-sense ideas, which emerge from the lived experiences of those commonsensical enough to perceive them.[2]

Not always as common as it should be...

To quote a old saying : Common sense is the least common of all senses!

No hunting in the park anyway.

We have exactly the same problem here.....

on our trip to Banff years ago there was a minor traffic jam. As we approached there was a crowd of idiot tourists all rushing to get photos of a black bear, some less that 40 feet away. We drove on figuring we would be reading about it later and some idiot journalist wailing for the government must do more to protect stupid people

They call them "Bear Jams". I have bourn witness to so many it hurts.
They actually will block the entire highway like they are in Manhatten driving a cab and run across open lanes of traffic without looking.
It is scary all the way round.

The best ones are when they push the kid toward the animal so they can get them both in the shot. :ROFLMAO:

Over the years I have noted a number of bear maulings in BC that involved the bear singling out the woman in the group or couple. In a number of cases the bear was focused on the woman and those trying to chase it off, fight or distract the bear were only an annoyance. I have wondered for some time if it has to do with a woman having her period or perhaps she has recently had sex...
Any thoughts on this?

I Suppose it would depend on what she looked like,
Great looking Hottie, probably just had Sex
Face like a Wildebeast and a Body like Rosie O'Donnell, probably her time of the month

Survival of the species....... Just not sure what species .....are we really that ignorant or just so naive from the Disney Channel.

I don't understand your comment. Yes, I was being serious, and I am not alone in this suspicion.

I’ve never seen a wild bear close up nor am I in any way claiming to be an expert so it is just my two cents here:

The predators go for what seems to be the easiest target. The lions go after the calfs, the caracals after the lambs, if any animal is injured it goes first.
I’ve seen numerous times in parks where the predators are totally focused on the smallest person which most of the times have been children. Often have I thought- Yeah, you think it is cute that they look at your kids because they like the kid - If you only knew how much this lioness likes your kid...

The saying- I don’t have to run the fastest, just faster than the slowest, would come into play. Women are usually smaller so that is my theory for the interest from the predator.
If you see some predators, bend down or squat and see how the focus changes.

Yes, it could be that smell is used to identify the "weaker" sex.
A very close friend of mine (after months spent trying to convince his girlfriend camping was safe and bears were not a problem) was camping with his girlfriend. In the middle of the night a black bear tore through the side of the tent and grabbed her. A tug of war ensued involving my friend repeatedly punching the bear in the head. The bear initially let go, but returned and attacked the young woman again. My bud fought it off again, and they managed to scoop up their clothes and jump into the truck. The bear evidently only saw my buddy as an obstacle to the woman, and kept trying to get around him to get at her.
After brief 1st aid, they drove some distance on rough roads to the nearest medical assistance, where she was treated for very serious lacerations to her shoulder and upper arm.
Other scenarios come to mind involving a targeted attack against a woman by bears, but I will leave it there. I do wonder though, if anyone elsewhere in the world has seen similar predator behaviour.

has to be heart breaking.

^^^^^^ Along those lines, If you're stupid or dead, you don't know it but everyone around you does. One step further, knowledge is NOT wisdom.
