Have any problems? Animals make it back ok?

Thinking of going next year with my daughter.

I hunted there last May, that may not be as lately as you are hoping to hear. No problems to speak of. My D/P should be shipping in a few weeks and would have been sooner, but I changed my mind and had them tan my zebra hide to make into a rug over there which added about 3 months on the total time.

What are you going after? Any ideas of the area yet?

Thanks for the reply. Just plains game. Save’ valley area

I went in September. Loved it and no issues. My gut feeling is that it's even easier now with the police and roadblocks under control.

I haven't gotten animals back yet, but haven't expected to either. No aticipated issues.

Went late sept/ early oct.......no bribes anywhere, no roadblocks that I read about (Harare to Zambezi valley/ Dande)

D&P done, waiting on gov't paperwork.

On flight from J'berg-Harare got shakin' down on way to SAPS drop off after ticketing in Tambo. Got right in the guys grill and told him to f' off....no issues SAPS in or out (did my own permit as I did lay over and had time)

Had a great trip; hope yours is same!

Went in 2015- Bulawayo to BVC. No issues. Usual confusion at airport but nothing out of ordinary. Spent nice relaxing night in Bulawayo at a small B&B "Lodge". Several checkpoints on highway between Bulawayo and BVC. Never stopped- coming or going. Uncle Bob's boys were at airport but no problem. Same trip planned for 2018. No issues expected- no worries.

I was there in May. We drove across at the Beitbridge border post. That was a rodeo, but I had no safety concerns. Once in country, we saw a few road blocks (but they waved us through) on the tar road, but most of our driving was on dirt roads to the safari area. I have to say, the dirt roads were some of the worst I have ever seen, but all the people I encountered were very friendly and I never felt unsafe. All in all, it was a great experience.

Went in October 2017. A couple of weeks before change of government. No safety issues. Dangerous game hunt in Chewore South. Trophies are still at the taxidermist but good communication from the firm. The biggest issue we had was the non existent cash withdrawal from banks. So bring all the US dollars you anticipate using. The PH we had made my first safari easy and memorable

I was there in June. There are the normal traffic roadblocks but nothing out of the ordinary. I think I gave $20 one time because the guy said we had a tail light out or something. (Have some small bills for this sort of thing) The only discomfort for me was taking so much cash. They ask for as much cash as you can bring due to the financial crisis. After knowing the procedure I am no longer worried about it. I did have to declare and show (count it all out) it at the airport. A white Zimbabwean was standing there and he said to me just (he could obviously see exactly what was going on) declare all cash to them now or you will have a problem. So I whipped out a huge wad of Ben Franklins and proceeded to nervously count it out. Filled out blue form and all good and on my way!
The taxidermy dip and pack is through TCI in Bulawayo and they have been good but still operate on “Africa time” and all is painfully slow to me.
I can’t wait to go back to Zim. May be a couple years though.

My wife and i were there early September and had no problems. In fact we were treated better in SA and Zim than we were here in the US. People were very friendly and never once did we not feel totally safe. It was a wonderful trip and the locals are really great. Dip and pack is done but still waiting on paperwork. Already booked to go back Aug. 2019

Update on my taxidermy;

Gov't permits done and on to shipping. Hunt was first week Oct. Buff skull, Hyena skull and skins, Bushbuck skull and skins,Impala skull and skins, Warthog skull, 3 Baboon skulls.....D&P $600

Enjoyed reading your post again. Believe this is the 3rd time. I am scheduled to hunt w/ Legadema in Sep. Really looking forward to it.
