I have been taking photos like this through my Leica spotting scope using my cell phone. This particular photo is from 559 yards. What is the general opinion?

Should I purchase a phoneskope or are these sufficient?

Looks like you are pretty well practiced if you can pull off reasonable photos like that.
I am not sure if you'll get a quality increase with the "tool" or just a quicker pictures.

Did you get this ram?

My opinion is stalk and shoot that ram! Photo quality seems fine. Not sure how much the phone scope would improve it. Bruce

Looks like a good photo to me! I would have this photo on my desk if I took it!

God pic. I had an older type of phone attachment for my Swaro spotting scope and it was not too good. I’d like to get a new one when I get a new phone (iPhone X soon I hope!) and try it out.

Good picture of a very nice ram. I've got an aoudad hunt coming up shortly. I'm very exited to go see some sheep and love looking at pictures of them.

I've got the Swaro ATS 65 with the Phonescope for iPhone 6. The pictures were no better than yours. I'll be using a iPhone 7 this year in the phonescope, but don't expect a huge difference in photos.

Without a ton of money in large camera lenses, that photo is about as good as they get. Just throw a color correction filter on it to "liven" the shot up. I have to ask, did you shoot that big guy?

Touch up your shots with a little. I ended up taking better shots with the phone through my binos than the phone scope was able to do through the spotter.

I still take pictures the old fashioned way so am unfamiliar with using a phone as a camera, but comparing the two photographs, the second appears to have better color saturation and doesn't appear that you were squinting into the sun.

Bobby Warren, I never saw an introduction from you? Welcome to AH!
Where did you take the picture, West Texas somewhere? That’s one fine aoudad!

Look just fine to me, no need for a phone skope!

Without any doubt it’s a nice shot. Photo quality is also fine. So, if you don’t face any problem using only with your cell phone and get good feedback, you can continue without phoneskope. But I think, if you use a phoneskope it will give you more flexibility.

I have used both techniques for distant photos. The phone to scope method works great. The only downside is taking multiple pictures or using the phone to compose the shot. I prefer to not have the phone mounted to the scope. But my needs are likely different from many here.

I liked the phone scope thing because it was quicker and also I mounted it to my rifle scope and recorded the shots through the scope so you can see the crosshairs on the animal just like looking through the scope.
