Bowhunting is what happened Jeff

..... The first shot was not perfect placement as is required for a 1-arrow kill on a Cape Buffalo. Ryan got decent penetration a bit higher on the shoulder than we would have preferred. Thanks for the reply, I thought it wasn't until the next day that the second shot was taken from watching the video, sometimes it's hard to tell on the time frame. How far were the shots?

My apologies Jeff... My initial reply made it seem as if we got right back on the track and made the follow-up shot soon after... We found the arrow and determined that the penetration was maybe halfway. The team made the decision to leave the track for the night and get back on the bull at first light. Hopefully we would be pleasantly surprised to find the bull dead not far from where we left off... We got right back on the track the next morning, and jumped the bull to his feet the for the second and final shot.

We try and get as close as possible to allow for a short bow shot for the hunter for this very reason.... 40 yards or less is the goal. If the arrow is not perfectly placed, a Cape buffalo can go a long way. Furthermore, and injured Cape buffalo is much more dangerous to track. I believe both of Ryan's shots were right at the 30 yard mark.

Thanks, I asked the questions because I'm hoping to hunt buffalo in a couple of years and was just gathering info, one can never know too much!
