Hello all,
I’m currently in the mindset and planning to go to Africa for birds, ducks and geese mostly with an emphasis on variety in 2020. Melting barrels with huge volumes of birds is not important as long as there is a good chance of getting spurwing and Egyptian geese, (Pygmy geese open anywhere?) and all the different types of ducks I can collect along with other birds (francolin, guinea fowl.) I’d be accompanied by my wife with picky meal choices and where she sleeps, so lodge accommodations and being able to be tourists (hunt day - tourist day -hunt day - tourist day, rotation or something similar possible? (Safari, museums, spa, local culture) For her sanity and interest.)
Thank you for any and all responses.
Respectfully,
Waldo

Thank you! Your outfit definitely at the top of the list from my internet scouting and am no stranger to your website and reviews and think highly of Pawprint. I’m sure our paths with eventually cross.

Dear Waldo
We invite you to visit our website since wingshooting is one of the safaris on offer.
Enjoy the planning process since it forms a huge FUN part of your safari.

If you are planning to import bird skins for mounting, research what condition they will be after required treatment. I was warned by several sources that the bird skins are virtually unusable by taxidermists after the required chemical treatments.

That being said, Egyptian geese are great fun to hunt. Spurwinged geese appear to be closely related to pterodactyl and rock pigeons are the most difficult shooting I’ve ever encountered. Be sure to buy a Birds of Southern Africa field guide, too. The variety of bird species is amazing.

Looking forward to your hunting report.

Simon of @TMS is the man. He’s out in the bush right now but I’m sure he’ll contact you as soon as he gets back if you’d like.

I would like. Been looking at websites all day and will support someone here. Too many great sounding choices

I just talked to him, he’s In Mozambique and has little to no internet service. He asked me to let you know he will contact you as soon as he gets back next week.

Dear Waldo,

Without shooting the greywing francolin at 10 000 ft in South Africa and four(4) kind of sandgrouse in Namibia you will not reach the NIRVANA of wingshooting.

Hunting Greywing Francolin on foot is not for the weak and you will earn every bird you get.(this saying is abstracted).Although I could have fulfilled my request and quota dictated by local law I shot only three(3) greywings and said to my outfitter''I am done''as I was so exhausted to run after the pointer down-and uphill under a very windy weather in the long grass.
