You'd think it would be common sense that you don't call a sick, cruel and brutal despot a sick cruel and brutal despot while in the country over which he presides as a sick, cruel and brutal despot. Terminal stupidity.

That's the trouble with being stupid (or dead). One doesn't know it but everyone around does.

I know a lot of states in Africa, you'd be a dead man after a trip of 100 miles.
Why don't you talk about those ?
Don't make Zimbabwe that bad.

First . . . The topic was about Zimbabwe and not "a lot of states in Africa".
Second, . . . I've hunted in Zimbabwe and visited friends there on many occasions for 29 years now. And even though I do think Robert Mugabe is a cruel and brutal despot I'm not so stupid as to voice that opinion publicly while there.

If there is anyone who makes Zimbabwe look bad it is Robert Mugabe himself.

Call me dumb Foxi, but I don't understand your point relative to the previous posts!

But you, and others, have called Bob Mugabe 'cruel, brutal, despot' publicly HERE. I perfectly agree which is why I haven't been there since Old Bob declared the right to arrest dissenters and opponents at the airport. I had a friend die in a Mugabe jail so I'm bound to believe what's happening to this young woman is truly terrible. Imagine yourself in her situation. Imagine yourself arrested at the airport in Harare or Bulawayo because you said something on Face Book.

All I can say is silly Bitch!

Spoonieduck, O'Donavan is a manager for Magamba TV. I believe Magamba TV is a Zim production company. So if I'm not mistaken she was in country working for a Zim company while openly and publicly criticising Bob the despot.

To me what O'Donovan did was flat out stupidity under the present state of things there. And no, I have no fear of being arrested at a Zim airport for my criticism of despot Bob on this site. . . . . BTW, I do plan on returning so you'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I wonder if Mugabe's twitter account will be deactivated for 11 minutes?

If criticizing the President was grounds for imprisonment, every Democrat in the USA would be behind bars. That wouldn't be such a bad thing.
through in all the blowhard talk show hosts also.

Most of the republicans also....

Seeing how Americans talk about there leaders; be it a republican or democrat, how would you expect young folks to learn how to behave?

Simply stated. Young and dumb!

I think this is horrible. An idealistic young woman is in hell because she believes in the freedom we take for granted. Sure, she lacked wisdom and discretion, not uncommon for young folks. But I don't think she deserves to be derided. If anything, get on the phone to your representative, and encourage the diplomatic steps to get her out.

Respectfully disagree. At what age does one become responsible for their own actions? It's a major problem in the United States. Keep giving everyone a break, including lifelong criminals, with the hope that they shape up, trying to save everyone from themselves, and trying to please everyone on every issue. She never learned you don't mess with a junkyard dog? Well that's just too damn bad. Some people just have to learn the hard way.

I get what your saying, but I differentiate on the nature of the crime. She did steal, maim or kill:

"I dissaprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"

She tried to import into Zimbabwe America's greatest export.

Yes, she should not be allowed to stay in their country. She should learn to act appropriately in someone else's house, I agree. But, where we part company is that I don't think she should be subjected to a life altering incarceration. I think of that poor fellow who came back from North Korea brain dead.

Somewhere in the USA someone is trying to get their daughter out of Zimbabwe, I think they deserve our support.

I feel for this girl, in no way shape or form would I ever want to be in a Zimbabwe prison. But you have to be aware of the country you are in and their rules and laws. It seems like every 3 or 6 months an American 20something goes to jail in a foreign country for doing something that disrespects their government. Usually this disrespect is minor and we wouldn't blink an eye if done in America. But when you move to a foreign country, things are different, laws are different and you have to respect them. I hope we can get her out of there, because no one lives 20 years in a Zimbabwe prison.
