The rings I got for my Brno (I think built in 1970) are too low for the bolt. I leave for my hunt in under a month and I am rushing the scope mounting. Does anyone know what height rings/ which model I need for a scope (1" tube)

Thanks.

Do you know the height of the rings you have? Low, medium? How close is the bolt handle to clearing? I doubt anyone can tell you the proper height on the info given, best to talk to folks at CZ, they should be able to help or Triple River Gunsmithing, they do most of CZ custom work and should be able to help.

Thanks

I think my post was a bit of a late night panic post....

I have Alaska Arms medium height. They have a 'high' version but the variance is only 0.1" between the two. I didn't measure the bolt interference distance. Both their medium and high versions say they are for the Brno 600. I don't understand the reason some would be medium and some high rings. And 0.1 variance didn't seem to be much.

I will try and mount them again tomorrow and see what the interference distance is.

Again, I appreciate your response to my post.

The reason for the different heights is to help accommodate a larger front bell, like a 50 mm over a 40 mm. A tenth of an inch may be enough as it usually doesn't take much to make the handle clear the scope. If all else fails, get the tallest rings they have or find another brand. I thought you had BRNO rings. Keep us posted.

Ok, I took a deep breath. I made shims 0.094" using sticky note paper. I put them between the rings and the bases to test the tolerance for the scope.

With the shims in place the bolt handle just clears the scope. So, I think I am safe to order the higher rings (duh).

What a lot of fuss I made. Thanks for taking the time to respond!!

Looks like you have scope that has a larger ocular (rear) lens? Zeiss maybe? Those too can cause interference. If you want higher clearance, take a look at Warne rings. I think their high is 0.535"

I have Warne on all my CZ's.

It's a Swarovski z5. I will look for Warne locally. If I can't get them I will order the high rings from Alaska Arms. I would just order from AA but I am afraid of them being held up at the boarder... Murphy's law!

Canada Brass sells them.

Luckily! Things are much calmer this morning...

Tempest in a teapot (American English), or storm in a teacup (British English), is an idiommeaning a small event that has been exaggerated out of proportion. There are also lesser known or earlier variants, such as tempest in a teacup, storm in a cream bowl, tempest in a glass of water, storm in a wash-hand basin,[1] and storm in a glass of water.

:rolleyes::whistle:
