Big Bore Addiction Group

I just wondered if in the rimless version it has two pawls? Anyone know?

Mine started with a Shiloh Sharps long range express in 4570. The 405 grain hard cast bullet over black powder is extremely effective on white tail deer. Bullet goes slam through and makes big wound channel with very little meat damage. I thought then if I had a .458 Win Mag like my uncle had when I was a boy that would really give me a huge advantage if I decided to go after bigger stuff. So I purchased a new CZ 550 Safari Magnum and have been very satisfied with its accuracy. I'm gone try to take a white tail this year with some light loads and make it a meat gun. Such is the addiction my friends.

I love big bore guns, there's something unexplainable that happens when you shoulder a big bore rifle and squeeze the trigger. Let's just say you know you've got unexplainable power in your hands. I love my 375 H&H. I know when I squeeze the trigger I'm going to get a profound reaction. The only downside to my love of big bore rifles is accepting the fact that a five dollar bill or more goes down the barrel every time you pull the trigger. The only reason I can feed my passion is the fact that I reload. Reloading cuts the price in half.

It's a lot of fun to pull the trigger to a rifle that speaks to you. It says, you've just unleashed a hell of a lot of power. The thing I like about my 375 h&H is the fact that the recoil is manageable. It's more of a long push rather than a sharp bite' the type of reaction I get with my 300 Weatherby. Large bore rifles are a unique sport within themselves. They add a special dimension to the shooting sports. Some people like unparralled accuracy you can find in small bore rifles, others find comfort in 1,000 meter target shooting. I like the special roar only a large bore rifle can give you.

welcome, I think we all can relate to the joy of touching off a large bore rifle. if you enjoy the 375 H&H then I strongly recommend the 416 RM.

Shooting cast in the big bores helps. Casting for my .458 WM and .416 Rigby currently. May try and get a mold for my .375 H&H as well.

Hello, my name is Matt and I have a problem. It appears I have become addicted to large bore rifles. My addiction has soaked up large amounts of money and made the credit card company very happy.

Im pretty sure my addiction started when I bought my CZ 550 in 375 H&H, Beware of these rifles! They are gateway guns to a life of heavy recoil, empty wallets, and most importantly LOTS OF FUN!

here is a picture of the cartridges ive been playing with along with some more common cartridges for comparison.

left-right: 9mm Luger, 7.62x39, 375 H&H, 450/400 NE 3", 500/416 NE 3.25", and 505 Gibbs.

if you share my addiction, please state your name, how you started, and a picture.

Oh dear so sad!

Guess I'm catching the same disease.

I'm currently looking at a Sako Kodak in385 H&H and a Sako Brown in 416 Rigby

Hi my name is John and the largest calibre I currently own is .338 however about a year and a half ago I joined this forum called Africahunting.com so I could get help planning my first safari to the RSA. Long story short all the @$$holes on that site seem to think that centerfire cartridges begin at .375 calibre and their constant brainwashing is beginning to take hold. My gunsmith is now spec'ing out a .458 win mag for me. Please help.......is there any hope for me????

Sorry to inform you, but, there is no hope. Terminal I'm afraid

Glad to have you, without people like us, these poor over .40 rifles would just collect dust on a shelf. No rifle deserves that, with a Lott of love, we can make a difference. For just $11.23 per round you can make a difference in some big bored life. The difference between filling its belly full of thumb sized cartridges and a warm barrel or going to bed empty and cold.
