New Ruger African in .275 Rigby

So let me get this straight, you bought a rifle and haven't shot it yet. Then you bought another rifle on top of that.

That is sooooooooooooo cool!

Reed's / Northern Firearms is a very good dealer. I've bought a rifle and a few other items from them online and it's been a good experience.
I do think this particular rifle is a better investment than a passbook savings account;) as for buying guns I haven't shot yet... You have no idea how far behind I am:oops::confused: I did find some 10 gauge turkey loads in time for the fall season here in MN... Goose loads, no problem. The turkey loads were sold out everywhere I checked this spring. So I've got to pattern that within the next month... And yea, I may have to take up reloading at some point. But right now time seems to be my rarest commodity.

Got mine ordered(y) I did recently buy the RSI model, in the same chambering:whistle: But I had to have this one when I saw the ebony forearm tip..... I was going to shop hard but first price I was offered was $1150... No. So I also called Reed's in Walker MN, one of my favorite dealers... And he priced it at $999.00 plus they have a big fall sale this weekend I wanted an excuse to go to... AND he said it will be in by Friday:) So with no shipping and no extra FFL charge, it is on the way.

Now, are all 250 going out to AH guys or what:D

Now, Ammo! Oh wait, I do have 7x57 on the shelf:P Elmer Fudd:
Congratulations Bob, you found a great price!!! The story of my purchase may not be over yet! And I mean that in a good way. Should know in a couple of days

So how about a little informal poll.. What scope are you all putting on these 275 Rigby's? And anyone with a 7x57 may as well chime in as well.

Is your son getting a matching one?

Is your son getting a matching one?
No, he doesn't care for walnut and blue steel for his own rifles, just plastic and stainless or cerakote. He likes to shoot any of my guns, but is more interested in shooting tight groups at 800 yards!!! He is also very up on the physics of rounds going down range....of any size!

I think Bob and Cody are the kings!
Tim I think you just like to tease yourself  Although I do have some 10mm ammo waiting for me to buy the pistol:D

I am a tease, for sure.

I still look at a lot of rifles I could never buy!

I think you are probably right. I don't think he knows what he has. I think Bob at least knows...........maybe?

Absolutely, that will never change for me as long as Rigby and Westley are in business!

I think Cody knows how many, plus or minus 25.

Maybe....

Yea, I'm an amateur next to Cody ;)

Has anyone shot one of these yet?

A 2.5-7x28 Weaver I picked up. Fits the rifle well.

Mine is at the ffl. I am super excited to see/shoot it. I have a nice vortex razor for it when it gets home. Any recommendations for general ammunition to roughly zero and get an idea about possible accuracy?

Both my kids got #1A's in 7x57 when they were 2 days old. They are now 15 and have been hunting whitetails and feral pigs with them for the last 3 years or so. They have Leupold 1.5-5s mounted and PRVI 140 grain softs are pure death on GA deer. That exact same setup should work just fine on this new .275. I'm on my way to order one from my local gun shop now...

I bought a couple of boxes of the Hornady 7 Mauser ammo with the 139 grain bullets.

I have some 150 grain blem bullets on order for plinking and dispatching rouge water bottles and such; but if these are like the other bless, I'll be using them on deer and hogs.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
