British Columbia Bans Trophy Grizzly Hunting

Guess I'll have to make a 3rd attempt in Alaska for a Kodiak/coastal grizzly. For what this will totally cost me, I could go back to Africa for the next 5 years! Maybe I'll reconsider trying again?

As a British Columbia resident the news release should say ," The residents of the city of Vancouver have decided whats best for the rest of British Columbia". The rest of the province is much more grounded in reality.

Your right. I spend time every year in the Kimberly area visiting my buddy. Hunting is a big way of life there for sure. Lots of grizzlies there too. They say you gotta have your head on a swivel if you're working on a deer/elk there. Bears know what a gunshot means. That will get worse now.

Hell Atleast mental health patients know which freakin bathroom to use.
I just got kicked off of Facebook for 30 days, for questioning the mental health of a certain sector of the Liberal population.

Only 27 more days until I can give the fascist pigs another reason to kick me off.

SCI email today about this:

SCI FIGHTS CLOSURE OF GRIZZLY BEAR HUNTING IN BRITISH COLUMBIA
AUGUST 15, 2017

Anti-hunters are at it again – this time engineering what hopefully will be a short-lived ban on the hunting of grizzly bears in British Columbia, Canada. Ignoring all sound science that supports a continuation of grizzly bear hunting in that Province, government officials there have bowed to the bluster of anti-hunters.

Safari Club International continues to be First for Hunters, and is actively pursuing a number of different avenues to address this pressing issue, including a call to base all wildlife management decisions on sound science that supports sustained use of those renewable resources.

In a letter to the Minister and Deputy Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, SCI stated: “We at Safari Club International are deeply troubled by the recent announcement of the closure of grizzly bear hunting in British Columbia. “We feel this decision has been based on emotion and not science. Decisions of this magnitude must be made, using sound science-based conservation. There should have been stakeholder consultations before such drastic action was taken.”

The actions in British Columbia follow elections earlier this year when the anti-hunters’ influence became more prevalent in the government.

“Rather than an outright closure that will have many negative unintended consequences for society and the bears themselves, SCI recommends a simple regulation change that can ensure that all grizzly bears harvested be utilized by the hunter/outfitter, since that seems to be one of the sticking points. We feel that this regulation change will appease the majority of British Columbia residents, as well as being equitable for the industry and business-related constituents,” SCI stated in its letter to the British Columbia officials.

Hey congrats. That's a badge of honor in my book

With any luck this NDP/Green coalition will fall apart quickly, the BC can get back on track

I don't expect for it to fall apart anytime soon.

The population centers rule as far as the politicians are concerned and with the majority of the population being liberal and in the metro areas noting is going to change except for the worse.

It is a lot like here in Colorado. The population centers along the front range such as Denver, Boulder area dictates what is going to happen around the rest of the state, they just have the votes to do it.

Well said.

These are the same turd burgalars that believe there are 700 griz in MT, ID and WY! The emotional decisions can only be made with high levels of estrogen in ones system!

This is the type of action many hunters do not pay attention to. I know so many guys that believe deep down their hunting rights have been around so long they could never be taken away. Steven Rinella often talks about the affect the "New Jersey Cat Lady" can have when she jumps on the bandwagon of a particular species such as bears or wolves. It is an animal she has never had interaction with and doesn't understand how they fit into the ecosystem as a whole but is hell-bent on "saving" them. When small pockets of inner city voters can judge the morality of wildlife management and have law changed through politicians on a regular basis we are in for a world of hurt.

If it hasn't sold by next week I might be interested. Stock would have to be changed along with some other items. I'm already having a 416 Rigby built so money is a tad bit tight.
