Africa huntings supported people you should never use

Would love to hear some details/facts....

Easy to bash outfits on the web when someone doesn't get their way. See it all the time on some other forums. Without facts, it's just trash talk.

I advise you to present the facts since you made the matter public.

Two things spring to mind. Firstly to post such accusations without any details and facts just seems like sour grapes to me, desperate housewives stuff if you will. Secondly, if the OP has been "ripped off" so many times he is clearly too gullible.

I hope these brash statements can be qualified.

Tony, first I would like to say that yes some of your posts were deleted because you jumped on someone else's thread and made statements that did not belong there. You were informed of this and you were asked to instead start your own thread.

I have never offered any protections to any of the sponsors here from members who have negative reports. I also have an open door policy for anyone who has a issue with any sponsor. So it's surprising to hear just now about all of these issues. You have never contacted me, you have never mentioned any lawsuits, nor money being "stolen" from you. If indeed any of these statements are true, please share, please share for my sake as well as for the community. As far as I am concerned this post is just a rant and has no foundation.

I really don't like it if someone has a complaint and they just make blanket statements without backing anything up. Inflammatory words and accusations go nowhere! If you want to make your case do it properly, tell the story, make the report, let those who are in question respond if they so choose and let everyone decide for themselves. Your post here once again is all over the place.....Is it an attack on me, the sponsors, AH, Africa, outfitters in general, the hunting industry or Sean Michaels (who by the way is not a sponsor nor even on AH as far as I know)?

You suggest that myself and my wife are stand up people but in the same paragraph you say that "They have about 95% integrity". In my book you either have integrity or you don't. And bringing my wife on to this thread has no place what-so-ever and honestly is very upsetting to me personally.

I certainly do not know everything that all of the sponsors do but I can tell you over the years that I have discontinued a sponsorship when I did not feel that this particular outfit was the right fit for our community. I have also refused over the years sponsorships to more than a dozen businesses for various reasons including ethical concerns. I have no reason to believe at this time that any of our sponsors are "crooked" or "con artists", "scam artists" or have "stolen" from you.

I would like to say that just because a hunt does not turn out the way you imagined that does not mean the people are crooked or doing something illegal or are con/scam artists. These are very strong words that should be considered carefully before using them.

Since even the moderators will protect these people I will leave names off but if anyone wants my list of people on this site not to use please send me a private message and I will gladly tell you where the scam artists are hiding in Africa hunting.
I have never "protected" any sponsor of the site from negative reports or product reviews ever! I want everyone on AH to know that I want to know if you have a negative experience with a sponsor of the site, please tell me! Tony, once again I invite you to post in detail the negative experiences that you have had. Please let us know about these 30 animals that have been stolen, were they lost from the taxidermist, confiscated, kept because invoices were not settled or were they stolen from your trophy room? I just say that to make the point that I cannot make heads nor tails of your accusations. Please tell me who are these sponsors that I have protected and what I have I done to protect them????

Heck did anyone know that sean Michaels with mcmillan river adventures shot a croc in a 100 foot by 100 foot pen? Yep! And then he convinced me to go on the same hunt.
He "convinced" you to go on the same hunt? I think that we as hunters bear personal responsibility for the decisions that we make in the field whether we have a guide next to us or not. I have always advocated due diligence to all hunters going anywhere in the world. Do lots of research, knowledge is your friend. I suggest this if it is your first hunt or your 30th. One of the main reasons that I started this site was to give hunters more resources to be able to do just that.

AH always has and always will allow positive or negative reports on any business including sponsors and allow them the opportunity to respond as long as it's done in a proper way. I certainly do not want AH to be used as an avenue to bash on people's reputation or businesses without hearing the full story. We must always remember that these are people's lives and livelihoods. It's just a little too easy to throw out a few angry words and inflammatory accusations without backing them up and impact someone's life, job, reputation, income and family.

Thanks for posting this Jerome. I am sure this post left you in an awkward position. I for one appreciate your direct approach.

As an aside, I am actually very interested to know why you got 5% deducted on the integrity scale. I figured it was taking the last piece of pie, or something.;)

Let me just respond only to jerome as the rest of you do not know me.

Jerome we've sat down on several occasions and talked. I believe you know me to be sincere.

My losses came over the last 10 years in hunting in Africa on over 20 or 30 safaris.

Most of the lost animals came at the hands of numzaan safaris and one other outfitter I only mention In private messages due to the fact they have threatened my life with very real threats.

Numzaan let me shoot an African wildcat and mount it only to find out they did not have the cites tags needed to hunt the animal. This is only one of many facts against them. After responding to my pm box I discovered numzaan has a very long history with unhappy clients so I do not hesitate to mention them here.

Not one single word I have typed is in anger or retribution.

I don't know if you truly understand this jerome but I have had a lot of dealings in Africa and I refused to say a single word for so long.

I once was a man who held his head high. I am self employed with many men and oil rigs in the field. Every word I say is ABSOLUTELY monitored by my competitors, and somehow, always used to destroy me around the business table. I have since been humbled beyond means and I no longer have much fight or bite left in me. For the most part I merely sit back and watch from afar these days.

Over the years I have learned to hold my tongue and just watch the world turn and only speak when my words make the most impact.

I do not want issues and I do not want to hurt those I consider a friend. I dont think you and J can ever truly understand that I have have complete respect for you. I value your presence and opinion. I think you are truly a great man.

That being said I see several outfits on this very site that I know are taking advantage of people. How do I know this? It's simple. The hunting community in Africa is very small and I have travelled a lot in the last 15 years.

If you want to get to the heart of this ask Ian.

Remember when you were discussing starting Africa hunting and he and J said they were going to start a chip and dales calendar using African ph's??? Hahahaha. Anyways he thinks the world of you as well but has had to step away from this site due the sub par people that's are acting as vultures in here.

How you keep these people from this site and how you protect the hunters on here is probably a futile task but my inbox is a start to a quiet list of outfitters not to use and right now it is being called upon quite extensively. So with a clear conscience I can at least say I feel I am doing something to help the honest guy out there.

Have a very blessed evening jerome.

Tony

@tap please expand on your experiences. I think everyone gets frustrated by the vague nature of your comments. So far in 2 long posts, you have listed one (1) specific accusation. Otherwise it has been a lot of "these guys are horrible, believe me". I for one, as someone new to hunting Africa, want to know which outfitters are bad - but I want to know the facts (or at least the events that transpired from your veiwpoint). Put out all the specifics, let the outfitter respond, and everyone can form their own conclusion. If the outfitter doesn't respond - that says a lot to me right there.

Regarding the cat - what taxidermists mounted the animal without a proper license/tag? Was it the actual hunting that was illegal, or could you not export the animal due to CITES? (Don't mean anything by these questions - just for my own good as I still am getting the hang of CITES and what it allows)

I need people to realize I've been to Africa 30 or more times and I've seen a lot.

Expects people who don't know him to take his word for it because he's "seen a lot."

Let me just respond only to jerome as the rest of you do not know me.

Ignores all parties in a post he publicly made because "you do not know me." '

Sure seems like a conflict to me.... One of many.

Outfitters beware. You know what to expect now.

I guess Im not getting this at all.. perhaps I am stupid..

the OP states he has done 30 or more safaris, has been traveling to Africa for more than 10 years.. and then lists 1 specific instance where he feels he got a very bad deal where he is willing to mention the outfitter by name publicly... and mentions 1 other instance where he wont mention the outfitter by name or speak to the actual problem.. and admits that most of the animals he is complaining about losing are all associated with 1 hunt.. and all of this occurred years ago.. none of it is recent from what I can tell..

I cant go out to dinner 30 times without having at least 2 negative experiences..

This sounds like a pretty good track record to me.. there are 28 (or more) positive experiences not being addressed..

And for all of this, the integrity of the board owner is called into question, and all outfitters that are sponsors here are labeled as potential crooks? (or at least it is implied.. the OP tells us there are crooks among the sponsors, but provides no way to discern which ones are bad, and which ones are good)..

Maybe I'm just not connecting the dots correctly.. but this all seems a bit ridiculous to me..

A quick search of Numzaam Safaris shows all happy clients on here...
