Gents:
A fella on my thread on my elephant hunt (https://www.africahunting.com/threa...yne-van-den-bergh-at-nyamazana-safaris.39478/) asked me to post pics of my doubles. Here they are. I will post a few that are for sale in that section a bit later on. I can supply any details or reloading data you require.
Cheers,
Cal

Shortly I will have one or two Howdah postols and another .500 bpe. All are in process.
Thanks for looking and enjoy. Also, take a look at my website <calpappas.com>
Lots of double rifle stuff there including 100 magazine articles on doubles and hunting Africa from the 1950-60-70s.

All wonderful sir! Thank you for sharing with us!

Good stuff, thanks for sharing!

Cal you have an exceptional collection of doubles. Some real works of art there. Thanks for sharing. Bruce

I'm all but drooling over that Watson Bro's .500.

Which one is your favorite shooter?

Brent:
My .350 no2 is the most accurate--six shots in 1 inch at 50 yards, the .450-400 has taken more game than all the others combined, but my fav is the .600. I like the feel of a heavy beefy double rifle. Interestingly, my least fav is the .500. Jack Lott is somewhat on my shit list has he stole his .458 Lott from James Watts' .450 Watts 22 years after Jim developed it. He was the absolute first to blow the .375 H&H to a .450 caliber. Lott was famous and Jim was a quiet school teacher and Jack got all the credit and to my knowledge didn't mention Jim. When I pass on my collection, the .500 will be one of the first to go, and the .600 the last.
Cheers and thanks all for your kind words.

Great collection, drooling here!

Very thankful that you obliged my curiosity :). That 500 nitro looks like one of those dream rifles that will haunt me!

Beautiful collection there sir!!

I came across some of your Youtube videos, one of which you were hunting in Zim with the .600 Nitro.

Good stuff

Fantastic set of rifles! I could only dream of owning one and here you are with many. You have truly been blessed!

Also, gents, May 5 2018 is our Alaska double rifle shoot. Any and all of you are welcome to attend and shoot not only my doubles but all of the folks that bring their toys to the event. We feed you and don't charge anything for ammo. We will ask all who attend to chip in $10 for the range reservation at Birch Creek. Many of the regulars put up guests to save hotel rates and even pick up those that fly in at the airport to save on cab or car rental rates. My spare room is already booked for a couple from South Carolina but I do have a futon in the loft. (I live a 200 mile round trip from the city so I'm unable to pick up folks at the airport).
Anyway, food for thought.
I appreciate all of your kind words and if you have the miles for a cheap ticket (rates rise on May 15 for the tourist season) c'mon up and and shoot all you see here and many more! And, while you are on AH.com, take a look at the five I have for sale on that section of the forum.
Cheers,
Cal
PS. I have just received emails that 1) a .500 bpe is being posted to me from the UK next week and 2) I have been approved to buy a .577 Howdah double pistol from Europe and now await the export permit. I will have two additional for you guys to shoot when you arrive May 5!

Very nice collection, hard to decide which I like the best but the little 350 and the 8bore just make me smile. Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful rifles Cal, green with envy. Your Alaskan shoot and a bear are on the bucket list

I still cannot believe what the Westley 16 is selling for...$1,600! If the action is tight and functional it is the deal of the century. Monoblock a new set of tubes and you'd have one heck of a shotgun!

Not a bite.
I'm asking $1600 as that is what I paid.
Needs barrel work and is a bit loose on the face. The stock, engraving, etc, are worth more than I'm asking.
A fella is intersted in one of my more expensive doubles. If he is really interested I may give him the 16 to sweeten the deal. Other than the doubles, I have an early Colt SAA for sale and maybe an Express Winchester 1876.
We will see what the market will take.
Thanks for the kind words.
Cal
