Hi all I am in the process of developing a load for my 7x57 and I was wondering what bullets you have had luck with and which weight works the best on medium size game. I don't really need a light bullet as I use my 257 Roberts for varmints and small game. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Don't know where you are at or what the load is for but I have always had good luck with Nosler Partitions. They shoot accurately in everything I have including 7mm/08, 30-06, 338-06. I would guess 140 or 150 grain would work well. They may be old school but they shoot accurately and penetrate well.

Sorry it should have been more specific I live in northern utah and for now the rifle will be fore mule deer and elk hunting. Possibly an antelope in Wyoming. Someday I hope to do a plains game safari but it'll probably be a while as I'm still a poor starving college student

From what I have read the heavy bullets are accurate for this caliber, 160 grain and 175 grain bullets. So you could use Nosler Partitions, Swift A Frame, Barnes or something like that.

I am partial to Swift A Frames, a 160 or 175 grains bullet would be ideal.

The most accurate bullet I've tried so far has been the 140 grain nosler accubond. May be lacking in the weight department for elk though...my gun is a new fn model 70 featherweight with a 9.5" twist.

Hi

I own a 7x57 Mauser K98 1908 model and the best results I had was with the Rhino 170gr Bullet.
This is all local and I am not sure what repellants you get where you are but this is what I use.
Rhino 170gr Bullet
40.6gr S335 Power
CCI200 STD Primer
I have taken game from Klipspringer and never hesitated even on Huge Eland Bulls.
Hope it might help a bit.

Hi Spike

I have been thinking of the right words but remember some of the members on this forum is good with the English and some are not.
What would the right words be then, rather help us right please, I would appreciate the correction.

sorry meant to put propellant in after but was on way to bed and forgot. pieter beat me to it.

Put a tipped triple shock in it and live happily ever after.

The 160gr Woodleigh PP is the bullet of choice for me in my '08 DWM actioned rifle. Runs at 2700fps and is very accurate.

OP.

For similar weight African animals to the North American species you list, I would go with the tried and true 154 Hornady. Either Spitzer of RNSP, depending on what shoots best in your rifle.

With a lower impact velocity than a 7mm magnum, the Interlock design penetrates extremely well.

I have settled on this weight and design as it shoots the most accurately in my 7x57 and is flexible enough for use on all weights of game. For pure penetration use a 175, however I have had unreliable expansion on soft skinned game at ranges in excess of 100 metres.. For deer up to 100kg, nothing beats a Sierra 140 SptBt at 2,700.

Hi guys, i just bought a BRNO 7x57 rifle and im wondering what would be the best all rpund grain to shoot with, we will be shooting from springbok,Impala and boar/ vlakvark to Kudu. Any suggestions?

Shoot a 160g nosler partition and you're golden for the smallest to the almost largest species. Not too stout, not too explosive, no issues with throat length and stability, good SD, excellent expansion, penetration and terminal performance. If the majority of your game is large and your rifle copes, the 175g partition is a real gem. You may want to try the Swedish 150g Tarvas, it's the 'hunting' version of a N F cup point solid
