Hot Deal or Impulse Buy

Used firearms in general but, especially hunting rifles?
Hi, my name is Paul and I'm a junky.

Hi Paul get some coffee and donuts and tell us your story

I just grabbed a hot deal the other day, I was checking the Gun Library at my local Cabelas when I came across a New/used Zastava in 7-08 for 399.99, not a bad deal but then I saw a 10% discount on all used guns,Hmm thats 360.00 so WTF I took a ride. Zastava's are decent working mans guns but need a little Love to make them work good. so I look at the rifle, I almost got a sliver in my hand because the stock was so rough and the trigger was impossible right out of the box but the barrel and action are really nice so I ask the sales guy for a Geezer discount and he offers me the gun for 299.99, how can you pass on a Rifle in a nice caliber for 300.00.
I now have the rifle pulled apart and adjusted the trigger down to about 4#, took that nasty finish off and I'm in the process of bedding the stock. I already have a scope and rings just waiting for bases and this Cheapo will be range ready.
They had a 7-08 at Cabelas in Wichita the other day that I would have bought but had to catch a plane and didn't have the time. They are solid little rifles for sure.

me too..

I cant count how many rifles and shotguns I have picked up over the years just because they were a "great deal".. knowing full well I didnt need another rifle in a common "deer" caliber or another pump gun... I just couldnt resist at the time..

My wife and I have a good relationship that includes accounts in which the funds are hers, mine, & ours. As long as whatever I buy is paid for with funds from my account there is never a problem.

Happy Wife - Happy Life! good advice when it comes to guns and hunting....

I like No Wife, Happy Life a lot better

Auctions are the worst

And guns can be a bit like in-laws;)

Never knew I needed a Browning 10 gauge pump until one came home with me from an auction..... real problem was it brought several friends with, drank all my beer (well Hopps #9 anyway), then moved in and took over that third bedroom (aka the big new safe) and seem to be staying permanentlyo_O:rolleyes:

It's a good thing that you and Bullthrower aren't neighbors!

Meanwhile the stock on my Hot Deal/Impulse Buy has been stripped, Stained and already wearing 3 coats of True Oil

My dad use to say if you find a firearm at a good deal buy it and figure it out later.
I've never had buyers remorse but have had regrets that I didn't grab a deal when I had the chance. That includes guns, ammo and magazines.
Had a really good score this year at local gun shop. They deal with mostly hunting firearms, walked in and looked down the row at the used guns and saw a big black magazine sticking out. A closed import Saiga 12 on consignment, seems the fellow couldn't get it to run on low brass. Picked it up very cheap. Guess the guy didn't know it had an adjustable gas puck. :A Thumbs Up::A Thumbs Up:

I am almost there on the hoarder charge! The bad thing is I have more rifles than I will ever use and I have way too much ammo. I didn't need any 416 or 458 ammo but when one of our AH members posted that he had some ....well I bought it! I have come very close twice to buying guns from fellow AH members and they don't know how close. And those would have been impulse.

Glad I could help!!

Especially when a local gun shop liquidates his entire inventory because he decides to retire. 9 guns, 4600 rounds of ammo and 10 Silver Stag knives later.....

Plus the Model 70 in 416 Rem I bought on here.

I think I might have a probelm.....

That's not a problem, I'd just call it a good start;)

A local gun shop closed and it only had 9 guns to liquidate? I hope there were other guns that others got. Nine guns doesn't seem like much of a store.

Oh no, that was just my damage....I think they sold 700+ guns and somewhere in the neighborhood of 250,000 rounds of ammo. Plus knives, magazines, holsters, gun cleaning supplies, reloading supplies etc.

Yep you might have a problem brother.

Until this guy posts something on pay it forward free I would avoid him at all costs.

If it hasn't sold by next week I might be interested. Stock would have to be changed along with some other items. I'm already having a 416 Rigby built so money is a tad bit tight.

Hey pal! I'll take all the .375 bullets if they're available.
Thanks!
