Taxidermy Shield For Sale

Good evening as you can tell I am the gent that purchased the shield from Jody. let me say that to work is first rate. The shield arrived today and I put it together and mounted my wife's red heartebeest and my cape eland euro mounts on it.

In an earlier post you said you were looking for African wood. There is an outfit in my hometown that has wood from all over the world. He ships internationally as well. Spendy stuff... but if African wood is what you are looking for, he may have it.

Chris is a source for stock wood for several very high end rifle manufacturers. I will not drop their names, but his stock wood also goes out internationally as well. I have bought several pieces from him.

He is a hunter and has hunted Africa at least once. Hunts elk locally with his .375!

Wonderful news!
I love just walking around that spot but it costs me money. I have two beautiful stock blanks that I just had to have and still havent done anything with them.
I turn turkey calls and enjoy playing with the different woods.
 
I showed the web site to my wife and she was static with the different types of beautiful wood blanks they have available. Thank you sir, because I'll be a few more $$$ short this weekend when I place an order with them. :LOL::LOL::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Looks good. Let me say again how nice it is to work with the members on this site. My woodworking hobby helps pay for my addiction. I'm seeing a bushbuck in the near future

Made from domestic hardwoods ( I'm still working on getting some imported African wood) shield is 77x17 1/4". Base is 24x25 spears are 75"
The goal was to have it look hand made, I admit I cheated a little with machines on this. After the glue up of the boards only hand tools were used, so you will notice that the carved lines are not perfect straight , spears aren't perfectly round etc.
my spear heads can use some work but I don't get the opportunity to use metal that often.
Asking $300 plus the shipping on this one. If you need more photos or info let me know. iPad photos under fluorescent lights aren't always the best.
Oh ya remind me to tell you a funny story about leaving spears in a bloody truck bed in a residential neighborhood (oops!!! )

Jody, I most definitely will have you making a shield for me in the near future. May just have to wait until I move to Georgia. I'm running out of space with hopefully more African trophies after this years Safari.

I just unpacked some of my forms yesterday and was starting to think the same thing about space.
I asked the wife how she would feel about a wildebeest above the bed?
Sleeping on the sofa sucks!

I tried that as well, and I got that look (don't even go there) from my wife. Fortunately I can hang trophies (except birds) anywhere in the house, except the bedroom.....LMAO!!!!!
