To hunt Hippo or not?

Now now to be perfectly politically correct one must not speculate on the attractiveness of another mans hippo offerings. There are no ugly hippos only those that are less appreciated!

I am sure Marius has nice hippos!!!

You're right Charlie.... my apologies.

Marius chime in any time now.. I realize your sleeping right now so in the morning set theses guys straight. Lol

Just my $0.02 for what they are worth, but with increasing hostility towards "trophy hunting" growing despite political shifts here in the US, I can't help but feel it would be worth going after as many of the DG species that people think are "cute" , "iconic" etc. while you still can. I cannot believe how many people whom I have told I am going to Africa to hunt immediately respond with "You aren't going to hunt lion, elephant, etc. are you?" and when I tell them "No just a few different antelope species", their attitude goes to "Oh that's okay". If I had the money to hunt some of those DG species right now, I would do it, because you never can tell what will happen in the next election, any if any other import bans are going to be put in place for "our own good".
I heard "why would you shoot a poor hippo" just tonight....
Because they kill humans, and if I don't do it right it'll charge me

Good one Royal!:A Hi Five:

Johnny.....I can´t believe that you are questioning your self about this.....the only idea to swap a hippo hunt for some PG just scary me......do you feel ok.....??.....come on my friend......trying to put some lead on a hippo on land and at night, against shoot some plains game...??.......this post should not even exist.......I would be blessed if I had the chance to shoot a hippo in a swimming pool......some day.....

Get in focus......your great goal there......your buffalo and hippo hunting should be a big thing in your hunting life.....the rest is candy........

After this you can go back to Africa with a big meat grinder and hunt all the PG as you want......but now get this DG done......

My opinion about this is 30 percent humor and 70 seriusly......I hope you do not misundertand me and nothing gets waste in the language gap between English and Spanish.......

I am telling you from the southernmost ass in the world.......:D

HIPPO.....BY FAR........(y)

Not that this helps, but I imagine hunting a hippo at night on land would be one seriously interesting experience.
Marius Goosen has told me this is how we'll do it, if I get set up with him. I'm trying to evaluate and ensure I can save enough. Almost certain I can....

Johnny well may 2018 I am hunting the hippo on land in the dark in citrus groves. I was toying with no but after reading this it on for sure. Also have lioness and hyena on my wish list. So thank you all for setting me straight. Also that end table is a must do with the skull. You all are going cost me some $$$. But hunt what you want and just have a blast!

The snow leopard waits for the right time, before exposing himself.

Tag your it snow leopard! What's you take on. Johnny possibly skipping a hippo for plains game? His AH friends are trying to keep him focused but not sure we are getting the job done!

Marius doesn't sleep johnny. He's planning hunting when he is rarely not hunting. For crying out loud. Hunt the HIPPO

Thank you my friend. I completely understand your thinking and that is exactly how I feel too......At times. I know a lot of members here feel the experience is a huge part of any hunt, and I do also in a huge way. Even if they can't import the trophy which is in itself a completely other thread. Then there is the other side for me. Taxidermy. I'm a huge fan of really good taxidermy. I know there will be members who may not relate to my thinking here but I guess to each his own. My issue here is for me the cost of mounting the hippo with the real skin, mucho dinero. I struggle with will I just be happy with a skull mount? I really don't think so. But the experience.....Recently the thought of the tiny ten has been nagging at me. And those who know me when this happens no matter what it may be I'll be on a mission to get it done. I'm not sure how many more trips I'll be able to make to Africa so in my mind I need to prioritize. The thought of a Val rhebok and klipsspringer added with the other PG I'd like to hunt seems to outway the hippo hunt. Confused yes most definitely. Airline tickets already in hand so that in itself may lend me to stay with my original plan as If the buff hunt takes the full 6 days I doubt will have have enough time to properly hunt the Val. Sorry for this long winded response. Aghhh.

Give a guy a break.....:ROFLMAO:
