Hunting reports
Africa

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and to African hunting as well. I hope to learn as much as possible from this site and look forward to your responses. Like stated earlier, I have never hunted Africa but I am planning on it in the near future. I was recommend to Tholo Safari just the other day. Has any of you guys been to Tholo Safari or have heard anything about them? Success rates, quality of the animals, quality of the camp, etc. My dad and I are planning a trip for the 2017 season and would really like to be informed before going in. Our first trip to Africa will be special and we don't want to get "Taken".

The animals we plan to hunt are, Eland, warthog, impala, gemsbok, kudu and more of the typical plains animals. Looking towards the later part of summer.

Nice chatting to everyone.
David

Welcome to the site David!

Haven't hunted there but have read nothing but positive reports on Tholo.

As for tholo, I believe they are one of the more well known outfitters in Botswana. I'm pretty sure James Jeffrey can help you out on this one, he is a sponsor here, look him up @James Jeffrey - HuntingAgent.com

Search AH. "tholo" and you will see several hunt reports.

I hunted with Jason Bridger when he hunted at Kanana. He is now hunting with Tholo.
I have nothing but good things to say about Jason.

+ 1 You won't go wrong hunting with Jason.

Welcome to AH DTOdd

I have a hunt booked with them in 2018. It's my first safari, so very glad to hear good things about them.

Tholo is an outfitter on my radar screen for a future hunt. On their wedbsite, they have a downloadable brochure where they team up with a Namibia outfitter and you can do a hunt (5 days at one, 5 at the other) with both. I've attached that brochure. Looks interesting!

Good outfitter, my only concern as a customer is how do I get my animals back out of there? There are not a lot of options for dip and pack or taxidermy, which may be a problem and something to consider.

I just booked with them this weekend. They use a taxidermist in Maun to handle the dip/pack or taxidermy.

Between hunt repoerts here and the "other" safari web site I feel confident telling you that they have great animals and take good care of their clients. Book with confidence. Bruce

I felt good when I booked the trip. it being a year and half out its good to hear favorable reveiws

There is only one in Maun known as Mochaba run by Debbie, she will meet you after the hunt and discuss your requirements.I had mine dipped and packed out to be worked on at home and it arrived in great condition and quickly. You will have a great hunt and we look forward to the report!
