Leopard import to stop?

Close elephant.....didn't help.
Close trade in rhino...didn't help.
Close lion....didn't help.
Close leopard..won't help.
All that it will do in the end, us outfitters operating in these types of areas, will end up CLOSING our operations..........from the smallest duiker to the eland will all end up dying!!!

See I think that is the plan, squeeze the outfitters and cause them to close up. Let's be honest HSUS doesn't give a shit about actual animals but they love donations. Follow the money!

@AfricaHunting.com thank you posting and in reading the conclusion (something I didn't see before) they would have to do a 12 month review. They only considered information presented by HSUS in the 90 days review. So we can all be cautiously optimistic that a ban is not imminent.

Also, we need to do something about the prairie chicken. These guys don't stop.

I didn't see that. That at least is good news for the short term. Those of us who have leopard hunts booked can breathe a sigh of relief and pray for the future.

Slight disagreement with your post and is what I've been getting at. USFWS isn't squeezing the outfitters directly, they're squeezing American hunters via a ban on importing. We in turn choose to squeeze the outfitters by choosing to not hunt due to an import ban.

@PHOENIX PHIL I understand where you are coming from and totally get your point. But the ban effects demand which in turn effects supply. I will hunt regardless but I am not going to give a fellow hunter a hard time if they don't want to spend 20k on a leopard or elephant they can't import. Regardless, these bans are an attempt to discourage hunting.

And beyond the band, it becomes an argument of public opinion. Very few people get upset is Cecil the deer is killed, but Cecil "the endangered" lion, everyone has a fit. The "endangered" label gives a talking point to anti's and all the science in the world is hard to overcome the "endangered" label with a generation of whining snowflakes.

It is absolutely an attempt by USFWS catering to the anti's to end hunting, no argument there. And I won't give anyone a hard time if they choose to not hunt due to an import ban, it is their money to do with as they choose. But it is ultimately their choice, they're not being banned from hunting.

You can still go hunting and you can still take pictures and you will always have those memories, you just won't have a dead animal on the wall.

I like my taxidermy too and have a fair amount of pieces now. But I'm to the point with taxidermy, I'm leaning more and more towards Euro mounts only. Were I ever to get my leopard it would be a full body mount and I would really like to have that. But if I can't, I can't, I'm still going. I want to hear that leopard growl and the babboons freaking out as he approaches the bait. I want to see that leopard jump up into the tree. I want to hear that crunch of the bait's bones as the PH confirms it's a male. I want that rush of adrenaline that comes with all that. That is ultimately what matters far more to me than a pretty cat on the wall and I'll be damned if I'll let Dan Ashehole or the idiot anti's rob me of that.

I got to Dart a Rhino, and I did it at 12 yards, if any one want to say that isn't an experience, get to 12 yards with nothing more then a dart. Man that was a rush! No trophy to bring home but an experience I will always remember.

And that's what I said I respect anyone's decision on a ban.

This is yet another distraction....just like the AES filing for guns, just like the FOIA request. Now this noise with the leopard and no facts publicized. If there is no data, and the courts are allowing us to sue USFWL, they are not going to make any drastic moves.

I have been up close and personal like that with Rhino and no gun and damn it does get the blood rolling. Just pictures and you sure won't forget it.

Getting up close and personal with all of these animals is an experience every hunter should have.

Thanks Robert, I spoke with Rosella last night as you know, If we get a tag I m going ahead with my leopard hunt. Please keep us posted.

Here is my thoughts and advice hunt anything and everything including leopoards you can while you can period and enjoy the experience while we can!!!!!!!!! Trump has probably bought us a significant reprieve from the anti's for awhile BUT THE WOLVES ARE STILL AT THE DOOR AND THEY ARE NOT GOING TO GO AWAY PERIOD!! They still want our guns, they want an end to all hunting and no amount of scientific evidence, talking or reason will change them ever. The are organized and well funded and politically smart. They are going to peck away at us little by little and (now dont yell at me) eventually they will win. Go talk to a millenial or a gen X they hate us plain and simple. We by far and away have gray hair and they will be the generations in power eventually no matter if we like it or not. So hell shoot all the damn leopards we can as fast as we can and show them bloody dead pictures of the pretty kitty we just murdered on face butt and watch them just all get lathered up for fun!! I love pissing them off.
