My apologies I was out the country doing some per-Christmas shopping and getting some spares etc. The hunt is 10 days , you can extend the hunt if need be just have to know in advance for permit purposes.

I am very interested in this hunt. Tell me Wayne, do you think it would be possible to hold the tusks for me for up to say two years in the hope that the new U.S. administration may change import laws on elephant?

Hi Jim
It will not be a problem at all to hole the tusks for 2 years in safe keeping at the taxidermist , I can't say for sure that the U.S. administration will change but one hopes now that the Republicans are in the drivers seat that things will change .

Well, looks like I'll have to buy a new rifle since they don't allow handguns for Elephant. Perhaps a .375 Ruger.

If a Leopard makes the mistake of showing himself, I'll be ready. Wait I'll have to check if CITES allows import from Zimbabwe? I will have to think about other things, not sure what all is available.

Congrats on the hunt! Zim does allow export of Leopard and as of May the US still allows leopard with the cites permit. Good luck!!!!

You never know when a leopard might show up. We were in the Waterberg mountains hunting kudu. They busted us and we were walking back to a spot to rendezvous with our truck. As we walked towards a small pond, low and behold, a nice looking tom drinking not 75 yards away. He saw us and melted back into the rocks. Later, we found his claw marks on some of the trees in the area. Too bad no leopard hunting in RSA in 2016.
