WANTED: Looking To Book A Plains Game Hunting Safari

Ridge runner I will give you a +3 for Andri Fox as the others have said he is a small operation with super personalized service and access to tons of animals and thing for family to do in the eastern cape. Please look up my hunt report and my friends from this april and if kudu is your main target he is you guy I took a 59" greater southern and a big eastern cape and my friend took 2 really nice cape kudu also. You are welcome to send me a PM if you want any time. good luck!

It took my wife and three kids and went with my parents (81 & 77) to @KMG Hunting Safaris. Marius is excellent at moving you across great distances to get that one special animal. My father, myself and both boys (18 &15) all got on animals, so there was a range of abilities that didn't seem to pose any problems to him or his team. Marius also was tireless in trying to get the 15 year old his first animal with a bow; for that I am externally grateful as I appreciate the lengths he went to work with him on his hunts.

In terms of sight seeing, I recommend you take your trip in phases: hunt when you are hunting and leave sightseeing to its own time. I tried to mix the two and it wasn't what I expected. I didn't like my wife off somewhere else while I was immersed in the hunting experience. For example, my non-hunting daughter came along for my kudu and I found that to be way better. She still won't hunt but she enjoyed the experience

By dedicating time to the activities you can enjoy all aspects of Africa as a family. And, I suspect you already have a sense of what a fantastic place South Africa is for tourists and hunters alike!

I'm thinking probably around 7 days on Safari, but not all have to be hunting, taking in local sights, local villages, could easily use 3 days and I'd be fine with that.

For a family safari with lots of options for excursions, I would recommend Hannes Els and Limcroma. For our family trip, we were looking for the whole package that included hunting, game drives, touring locally as well as a couple of extra days in Cape Town. Hannes put together a fantastic itinerary for us that included everything we wanted and more. Accommodation and service was exceptional. Everything was delivered as advertised and communication was excellent. No detail was left unattended. PM me if you want more info. I'd be glad to help.

A friend of mine and myself used 3S Safaris that was recommended to us by a friend and we were very pleased I gave a brief hunting report on here . Small outfit with access to lots of land and very $$ friendly as well I will be going back with them in a year or 2. Several day excursions that are nearby. Also check outfitters a some of them offer children as observers stay free.

Another thumbs up for Limcroma. (y) I'm probably the only hunter here that went to Africa with a trophy list of 3 animals, and stopped hunting when I reached my goal. The remaining days were spent touring southern Africa with my wife and daughter. We did a cage dive with the great whites in Cape Town, a wine tour, whale watching, an elephant-back game drive, visits to a couple of game parks for the Big 5, and much more. It was the ultimate family trip. Besides, with only 3 trophy animals, I have an excuse to go back. ;)

Haha BSO Dave I respect that lol I had a list to but I took 3 extra animals and my son took 6 extras. But it was worth every dime lots of fun.
How was the shark diving? That is what my son wants to do next time he said he would do that and not hunt , I told him hes nuts....Not hunt....mmmm

@Ridgerunner I will put my two cents in and say that I have hunted twice with Pawprint Safaris and had a blast. Several other outfitters on here are great as well. I would suggest that you talk with people that have hunted with an outfitter and ask lots of questions.

hi there

i have a large area in far north of South Africa
please send me a mail and i will send you all info u need
Tallyho is a small family run outfit and i am sure i can meet your needs

I'm sure this question has been asked more than a few times on here but I'm starting my research and have a little twist on the question. I'd love to come to Africa and do a safari, I am primarily interested in a Kudu and Impala. Anything else is the cherry on top. Primarily looking at South Africa, perhaps Nambia as well. I'd like to bring my family with me, hoping a couple of my sons might be able to shoot an animal as well. Would like to be with a smaller outfit, with plenty of other interesting non-hunting things for my wife and kids to do while I'm out on the hunts. Although I'm sure at least one of them will be with me on a daily basis as an observer, they wont all be able to be in the field at the same time. I'd prefer a larger piece of ground to hunt on. Coming from the western United States, I'm used to hunting significant size areas. So no high fence operations unless it was on a significant amount of land. I'm thinking probably around 7 days on Safari, but not all have to be hunting, taking in local sights, local villages, could easily use 3 days and I'd be fine with that. I'd love to hear some ideas on various outfitters that might fit the bill. I know I call this a trip of a lifetime and it would be for the family as a whole, however, having been to Africa with my wife before on a mission trip, I know that once you experience it you are figuring out how to get back!
Hallo, we are from Namibia, Leopard Legend Hunting Safaris in the North-West of Namibia. We hunt on our Main Lodge and also on our Conservancies which covers more than one million acres of free roaming animals. (No fences). Things to do while you are here: visit the traditional Himba Village, visit Etosha National Park (only 70 miles from us), visit a Cheetah farm where you can pet the tame cheetahs. Visit our website for more information.

BSO dave, our limcroma trip is quickly approaching! I'm traveling with my wife, as well as mother and father. Our animal list is a little longer then yours but we share similar interests with the touring and other things. How did you all like the elephant back tour? We wont be making it to Cape town but should have 2-3 days within our 10 day stay at limcroma to do other things... any suggestions?

Hey there Josh,

The elephant tour was an unexpected pleasure. I agreed to it out of concession to my wife and daughter for letting me hunt on this trip. I assumed it would be a lame deal where they prop you up on the elephant and parade you around for a few minutes for photos. It was actually nothing at all like that. Each elephant has its own professional handler that has worked with it for years, and they accompany you throughout the entire trip. The handlers are extremely knowledgeable, and you will learn a great deal about elephants and many other game animals by the time the trip is over. You actually do a game drive through a private game reserve via elephant back. The overall trip is a half day and the ride is probably 1-2 hours. Because you are on the elephant you will be able to get incredible close to lots of other game. The other game don't seem to mind you as much when you are atop the elephant. You have a really good chance of getting within a few yards of rhinos, crocs, and lots of other critters. It was one of the better trips and I recommend it.

We also did another vehicle game drive through Marakele Park which was also fun. We saw lots of plainsgame and a few of the big 5. They also have a predator park there where anyone can get up close and personal with some of the lion and cheetah cubs they have. The girls really liked that one... Turns out I am allergic to ALL cats, predator and domesticated. We also did a visit to the local school and community. The kids were very grateful for our visit and they sang a few songs for us. The girls also had a shopping spree in Vaalwater. It was a cool little town on the way back from the elephant ride.

You will have to plan on Cape Town for your next safari. We thoroughly enjoyed out time there. The shark cage dive with the great whites was an incredible experience that everyone should do at least once.

The folks at Limcroma are first class all the way. They will take excellent care of you. I hope you like to eat? Marcel and Thespina are exceptional chefs. You will eat like kings and queens.
