Agree, I think the CZs are their best in 450 Rigby, 500 Jeffery or 505 Gibbs. There the additional bulk and heft seems not just justified, but desirable.

interesting, but my Winchester M70 feels and weighs much bulkier than my CZ 550 in 375 H&H .
my CZ 550 is a far better balanced rifle than my Winchester in 375 .

My Whitworth in 375HH weighs just a bit over 8#, My CZ tips the scales at a little over 11#,

My Remington 798 (laminate stock) has been a joy so far on my safari. It too is a Zastava action. With the 270 gr woodleigh PP it has proved to be very authoritative on Zebra and Kudu. And, I really like the 22" barrel. I did, however, have to get rid of the cheap barrel band and crap trigger before it felt right.
Wow, my 500 Jeffery weighs 11.25 lbs, 12 lbs with scope and rings with two mercury recoil reducers. That sounds a bit on the heavy side ...

Just weighed it again, 11.1lb with Scope,Sling it also has a Mercury Reducer in the stock, my Barrel is 24". I also re weighed the Whitworth a touch over 10lb with the big Nikon on it. It just felt a lot lighter next to the Jeff
That makes more sense my 500 Jeff is an even 12 lbs with scope and sling unloaded. It's light and lively when pointing (balance is perfect), need to lift some more barbells and lose some belly fat for those 11,000 ft elk hunts

The Colt Sauers were very nice. Sauer made them for Colt and Sauer still makes wonderful rifles with that silky smooth action. We sold the Colt Sauers at a sportings goods store I worked at as a kid but at $500 and change they were too far out of reach for me.
In the 70s and most of the 80s $500 for any gun was big money for me. I just looked in Guns International for Colt Sauers of this era and they are now running about $2500 at the bottom and up to $6000 and more. A few were many times that price. They must still be in high demand! I remember the gun pretty well, but never knew someone that owned one!

I.m back using the leupold 4x12, it seems that Mid priced Nikons don't like heavy caliber rifles,so I sent the Nikon in for repair, when I get it back It will go on my 7MM-08

Shouldered a new Ruger Model 1 in 375 at Cabelas today and it was marked down. But alass it was not stainless with the laminated stock that I want.

I put a 2.5-8 VX3i on my Whitworth, it's working nicely with just north of 100 rounds down range so far.
My CZ 550 works great. That humpback stock gives it some nice character. I lucked out as well one day with scoring over 1000 projectiles at my local gun shop. A gentleman who passed away family brought the components in to sell on consignment.
