Has anyone had any trouble with ZINGELA FORWARDERS out of South Africa? I had one Warthog missing when my shipment arrived the U.S. I had insurance on all of it. But no luck on collecting anything from them. It's been very hard even getting them to respond to emails. It has been 4 months of trying so far. Any ideas?
Regards Jeff

Welcome Jeff,

I used them in my 2009 safari in the Waterberg Vaalwater area (Limpopo) and I had any problem with them. I am not sure, but, does your problem come from Zingela or from your taxidermy / Dip&Pack company? I supose Zingela send you what they recieve. If you want I can give you the mail I have from them.

for some reason, warthogs tend to be problematic. we didnt ship with this firm, but our group was missing 3 warthogs and one skull was completely smashed with only the tusks salvageable. we never did find the problem.

I have brought couple of times my clean warthog tusks in my luggage with no problem, so far.

The missing Warthog is not as bad to me as paying for Insurance and not being able to find out anything about it. They said that they would take care of the claim for me. But won't tell me the Insurance company or claim number. At least they don't answer my emails.

There is a good chance they just collected the insurance premium and didn't actual get you a policy. Make sure to head over to sites like ripoffreport.com to post about these people and their practices if it is a serious issue to you.

This does not sound at all like the Zingela Forwarders I used in 2009. Their correspondence was excellent ( the best I've had from an African firm ) and their manifestos and paperwork was detailed and correct.

Has there been a change in management/ownership since then ? Are you sure the problem is them, or as suggested possibly the taxidermist.

I would like to hear their side of the situation.

1 shot2 kills

i believe you are jumping the gun...
Has jeff p contacted his PH to see if all his animals were delivered to the shipper with the correct tags?

Were the shipping tags properly applied to each item and checked by jeff p? Prior to leaving camp?

Buying insurance, did jeff p have a policy in place? Paper work will determine if he had a policy or not. to say you have a policy and are unable to call the policy holder, i am not sure where that leave you...

Until you have all the i doted and t crossed, you do not know and to cast a bad reputation on someone with out proof is not the thing to do...

i do not have a dog in this fight and until the dust settles we should not be throwing the stink thing to see what sticks...

I do not know who is the insurance company, the dip&pack company or the taxidermy, I know the shipping company Zingela and as I said above I used them in 2009 and everything was OK I was in touch with them allways I needed to contact with them. I think we should make sure who is guilty when we have a problem. Just my opinion.

well said...

I do not like the finger pointing that was going on that is all i was trying to say...

James not only have I talked to the PH he came and stayed at my house. He told me I was the fourth one he has had tell him about the same thing. I have emailed back and forth with the dip & pack place six times. He has been sending me & Zingela the same emails trying to get them to correspond with me. Yes my paperwork does say Ins. charge. But it does not list what company. I did have plastic tags with all shipping info on everything. This all started last May. Zingela said they would take care of the Insurance claim. When I inquire they just say these things take time. In the last month I sent 3 emails all asking what insurance company and a claim number with no answer. So has the dip & pack place emailed them. I'm not trying to make anything stick a just ask if anyone has had the same problem. I'm not saying who took anything. All I'm saying is it would be nice to get a return email just to know if I'm still in waiting or not. Maybe something will happen yet. Sorry if that stinks but at this point it smells a bit funny to me.

Jeff, I tell you again, if you want I can give you by PM the e mail adress I used when in touch with Zingela, I think that among other things we are here to help us when we have this kind of problems

That would be great. I would like that.

Thanks. That is the same one I have. I ruffled enough feathers here just asking a question. Not my intention at all. My plans are just to start making some phone calls Monday. Both my PH and the dip & pack place said they would replace it for me. But a different animal just doesn't have the same meaning to me.
Thanks again Jeff

Well it's been 3 more weeks of excuses. Even though she sounds like a very nice lady on the phone. I think I'll have to pay them a visit nex year when I go over there. I was promised the money in my account last Tuesday. It's been a no show. I'm thinking 1 shot 2 kills might be on to something. I'll give them 1 more week. If nothing happens I'll post all of the details. Maybe a heads up will help someone else on here.

Jeff P

posting the details would seem fair at this point...

I am not sure who you have tried to contact or the lady who was polite to you on the phone...names, times and dates are always a good move...

So the money was put in my account today. I did not want to throw anyone under the bus just yet. Things worked out OK. But it took several phone calls. Both from the dip and pack place and my PH. All I can say "get your own insurance for your trophies" don't let your shipper do it for you. I learned my lesson.

Dear Jeff
I would really like to take this opportunity to have our side heard as well. The warthog that you mentioned was four tusks, which according to our packing lists, was included in your consignment. Because it is only tusks it is wrapped in bubble wrap in a bundle which can easily be thrown away, as it is packed on top of the plastic tubing to separate it from the other species, with the other packaging material. We have sent you a copy of you insurance certificate so for you to claim that we collected funds without taking out the insurance is not true. I will not in any circumstances make myself guilty of this unethical (and downright dishonest / illegal) practice. Because of the nature of the claim not being damage (for lack of a better word), but missing tusks, the claim is in this instance a bit more complicated than normally (where pictures are supplied and then claims are processed) due to the lack of proof that the tusks were indeed lost. Regardless, we accepted your word for it and in order to speed up the process we decided to re-imburse you from our own pocket for the full amount that the warthog was insured for plus a little extra to cover any bank charges. We will now attempt to recover this amount from the insurance company. I do believe in doing things the right way and hope that you will indeed visit us at our new premises right next to OR Tambo Airport on your next visit to South Africa. Keep well and have a nice day. Koos.
P.S. The sweet lady you spoke to was Charlene my wife and all our details are in our signature below.

Without "Africa Hunting Forum" I don't think this would have been resolved this soon (if at all) Im just glad that we have someplace like this forum to keep each other informed. I don't like throwing mud, just getting treated fair.
Regards Jeff
