I was apprehensive about trying the DRTs since I couldn't find them locally and didn't want to risk purchasing them online. Besides, I've always had good luck with my Montecs and Striker Magnums.

But I went into my local archery shop this weekend, No Limits Archery in Colorado, and lo and behold, there they were! DRTs on the shelf in my local archery shop. I decided I'd purchase a set and try them on deer and elk this year.

If they work well, I'll take all three broadheads on my trip to Namibia. I think with my final setup, PSE Decree, 490gr Gold Tips, 285FPS and 88ft-lbs of energy, I should be able to drop any plains game with a good shot. I plan to shoot video of the entire hunt, so I'll let everyone know how all the broadheads perform.

You may find the fly a bit different than your field tips, at least I did. Very interested in hearing how they perform for you on game.

Test the theory.
I look forward to seeing the video.

I hope you're not saying they plane quite a bit. I tried Magnus broadheads before and they tended to plane. I had to give them up for the Montecs, which impact the same as my broadheads.

No they just flew significantly low and to the left of in comparison to the field tips. What can I say is they grouped really well. But that was for last year's elk hunt where I didn't get anything, so I don't know about terminal performance. Tom Addleman who developed the broadhead at least used to be a member here. No doubt in my mind he'll stand by his product.

I TOO WILL LOOK FORWARD TO THE REPORT AND PICTURES .

A month ago I hunted wild cattle with the DRT broadhead, good performance, took both lungs of this 750 kg boy

in Chile ... well, I really don´t know if the english name is "wild cattle", maybe the correct name is "feral cattle". In south america we call them "baguales"

Synergy,

That's interesting. Feral and wild have similar meaning here in the states. We tend to use feral to distinguish between animals that are naturally wild and those that were domesticated and have escaped captivity. Thus hogs that were captive and escaped are now feral.

ok, with that in mind, the name must be "feral cattle".

I would love to know how those do. Good luck

Just for the sake of testing, once it warms up, I'll do flight tests and video them. Right now,it is just a little too much snow.

If a broadhead spins true and your bow is paper tuned to shoot a perfect bullet hole I've not had any broadhead not shoot the same as field points within reason. Most problems are related to initial launch and the broadhead has acted like vanes and steered the arrow off course before it straightens out. Spine and tune will get a perfect bullet hole if you spend enough time.

Especially with in 20 yards or less ....... longer shots will magnify any errors in tuning and arrow balance .... practice far , but shoot close !

Agree Jeff. Also do the walk back tuning at 20, 30 and 40 and adjust the rest slightly as needed to fix any horizontal drift. This has corrected some errors for me with broadheads that didn't show up with field points.

I understand bow tuning and paper tune all arrows, either for league shooting or hunting. I have to retune a few times a year when I change arrows. But, I have had bad luck with the Magnus Stinger before. Not at close range, but at longer distance at 40yards plus. Never had the problem with Montecs or the G5 Strikers out to 60 yards. I don't shoot further than that distance, so I don't know what happens past that. Also, I don't take hunting shots past 40yards for large game.

Hey guys!

I own DirtNap Gear and designed the DRT. If there are any questions at all please let me know. I am confident you will live them. They have killed loads of african stuff up to and including buffalo. We offer an all steel version (150/175gr) that im itching to shoot a hippo with. If you need anything just holler!

I switched to the DRT for my first trip to Africa, loved them so much I switched for everything. Got full pass throughs on everything including lion and wildebeest, blew all the way through a big buck at 45 yards. Make sure everything is tuned and you should have no problems with them.
