Where and who are you hunting with in 2016

Headed to Cameroon for a Savannah hunt with Mayo Oldiri the end of January. Lord Derby Eland at the top of my list but sure want to hunt Roan while I'm there, it'll be my last subspecie. Really looking forward to the trip, it's been 20 years since I was in Cameroon. I did two forest safaris in the mid 90's and never got up north.

Then in June it'll be 30 years since my first safari so planning an extensive family trip to celebrate. We'll start off with old friends in the Eastern Cape Niel Schoeman of Swaershoek Safaris and Tollie Jordaan near Somerset East. A visit to Cape Town so the kids can see Table Mountain. Then up to Zambia with Shawn and Dene Bird of Balla Balla, they've got a great place in Kafue. An overnight in Livingstone to see the Falls then on to the Zambezi for some tiger fishing. We'll finish up with a few weeks in Namibia touring and a bit of hunting with Peter Thormahlen. This will be the first African trip the whole family will be on, Debra and I with four teenagers, it'll be like Christmas every day for six weeks!

Well, I forgot about this thread, I posted a report on the "first leg" of 2016

Well, I forgot this thread. I posted a report on the "first leg" of my 2016 adventures CAMEROON: Lord Derby Eland Hunting Safari 2016. Here's a few pics from a tremendous safari. This year started off with a bang!
Less than 100 days until the family safari and my kids are about to bust. The anticipation and planning are nearly as fun as the adventure itself.

Sorry, here's the pics

Going on my first safari in South Africa with Frontier Safaris, leaving September 7th.
Doing a plains game hunt, kudu, gemsbok, wildebeest are on the top of the list.

Best of luck Therack, great choice of species, I suspect this will be the beginning of a long love affair. You know the old saying "you'll be planning your next safari before the current one is over!"

Well as much as I wish I could go back to Africa in 16 it's not going to happen this year. I will be hunting roe deer in Romania with Horia Spandu of Unforgetable Hunting. Might also go back to the Brazilian Amazon for more peacock bass in October too.
Cool bro, didn't know you was heading for Romania. Good luck

As most of you know since it's my wife's 60 th birthday year she has laid claim to the year. But........I did manage to talk her into heading down to the Eastern Cape for a week to stay with Jono and his wife of Kingsview Safaris. AND....I did manage to semi beg for one day of hunting. Looking to complete the spiral slam. I need a Nyala and a bushbuck. Also on hit list will be waterbuck.

Along with my plains game hunt with Paw Print Safaris late April/early May, a buffalo has been added to the hit list!

I was just looking back through this thread. I sure wish I could convince my wife that a leopard hunt in Zim was "someplace nice." :A Argue:

@CAustin you need to write a book telling the rest of us how to do it. You'll be hunting twice a year in Tanzania off the profits!!!! :A Banana:

Royal may the force be with you as it has been with me! Take note however that a disturbance in the Force there is! Lion, Cape Buffalo and Elephant could be the origin of the disturbance as the wife does not like them watching her! At this point there are fewer smiles when I talk about the big five. I bought

Johnny that will be awesome. Y'all will have a great time I'd bet you'll get your nyala and bushbuck too!

Thanks brother. When you heading to Romani?

So I don't know what 2016 will hold for me, but it won't include Africa unless something miraculous happens.

Well guys.... something miraculous happened! A lot of things fell into place and I'm going to SA in July. Never would have thought....

Going to visit both @lbgsafaris and @Tootabi Valley Safaris . There is nothing specific on the menu this time. The plan is to have no plan, see a lot of country, and see what pops up. Probably some night critters with Bossie and if I just happened to come across a blue duiker with Beans....

I'm truly blessed and grateful, both to be able to go and to have made such great friends to visit! When the biggest problem you have is not having enough time to see everyone you'd like to see you're doing all right!

Living life like a lion for 1 day is better than living life like a jackal for 100 years.
