Good Evening,

I am contemplating booking a hunting trip with Bos en Dal safaris and was given your name as reference. I would very much be appreciative of your time if you could answer a few brief questions and provide any insight that you deem appropriate.

Q:1. Did your hunt meet your expectations? Such as timely pick up at the airport, lodging and food acceptable, quantity and quality of game.

A: Exceeded my expectation. Pickup, accompany us were on time, lodging and food are far better than my expectation. To be honest, my food expectation was really low, I normally eat energy bar and canned food while hunting in US and Canada, LOL. Our male lion is 7-8 years old and very good looking. Lioness was very good too.

Q: 2. Were there any expenses that came as a surprise? Such as drop off to the taxidermist, skinning fee etc.

A: No, we worked with the same taxidermist.

Q:3. Would you hunt with Bos En Dal again?

A: My friend is a return client, and I will return for sure, and bring more friends.

Q:4. What are your thoughts on the overall operation? Sound business principles, helpful, recommended taxidermist or dip and ship company.

A: Very smooth operation and very good price for everything, compare to US and Canada of course. My friend did a lot of research on africahunting.com and picked them last year, I trusted him and went with him this year and I am very happy with the trip.

Q:5. Was the operation sufficiently staffed? cook, laundress, PH, driver, tracker skinner?

A: Yes, you can go to my facebook to see some of the food photo. We requested to cook Zebra, Buffalo and Lion meat for us to taste it, they did and it was good. The buffalo ranch and lion ranch PH and tracker were all very professional. The staff washed our muddy hunting clothes everyday.

Q:6. Was the PH the owner/operator?

A: Yes. Gerrit is the owner. He really tried his best to let the client to have a good experience.

Q: 7. What was the game you were hunting? Plains, Dangerous.

A: Last year, 11 plains game. This year 3 dangerous game and 5 plains game. You really should try the lion hunt, it is the closest thing to real combat and it was super exciting. I can’t show you photo and video because I don’t want to be famous. LOL. Gerrit can show you the photo and video when you meet him face to face. We all agreed not to put the content online.

Q: 8. Any advice?

A: Bring your own rifle if possible. Need advance permit if you fly through Europe. Paperwork for direct fly from USA to South Africa is easy. Take immunization shot before you leave, just in case. Take small camcorder and small camera, video tape your hunt. I took a big DSLR camera and it was inconvenient, we used a small Panasonic HD camcorder and the video was very good, use Tripod. There was not much mosquitos, I heard all the horror stories about them before I leave. But bring bug spray anyway. My doctor prescribe me medicine for malaria, I didn't take it since we were not in malaria zone. My doctor also advised me not to eat salad but I eat anyway because the place look like a 4 star hotel and I kind of trusted them. They were all eating salad and I ate it too. I am back home and healthy. YMMV. I am the only one wear snake proof boots, because I am super afraid of snake. I’d rather meet a lion, than a snake.

Having hunted Africa before I understand not everything works perfectly but, I do appreciate and expect honest hard work and attempting to meet client needs. How do you feel Bos en Dal does in regards to treating their clients and striving to enhance the African hunting experience? Thanks for your time, I truly appreciate you taking the time to tell answer my questions and hopefully tell me about your hunting trip with Bos En Dal. Thanks again.

A: Gerrit and his team tried hard to entertain us and we are very happy with the trip. He deserves a good review and reference. That’s why I am answering your email, even though I am super busy because of the trip, I have lots of work stacked up on my desk.

Great to hear you had a awesome time Gerrit seems to be constant on the subject!
No surprise there, well done!

My best

Your Doctor advised you not to eat salad ???? In South Africa ????? It always surprises me what the doctors come up with when advising hunters on their travel . Contrary to popular belief ones doctor does not know everything about your travel health.;) Lol.:)

My apologies , not trying to hijack the thread. Good professional report.

It was a good trip and we will do it again in future!! Thanks for the support and the reference!! All the best

O yes @dengdengdeng what is written on that stone in your hand on the profile pick? Is that 400yards? Good shooting my friend

Pictures are great!

Excellent report/feedback, very good decision not to upload any hunt about a lion , it is a subject very sensitive and will create unnecessary publicity..
Gerrit, I really think it is an excellent recommendation your company got from Dengdengdeng...always nice to get such compliments, keep up the good work..(y)(y)

Looks awesome!

Congrats, thanks for posting!

The local PH told me that, since Barack Hussein Obama banned lion trophy import, the local lion farm had to lay off 10 workers out of the 14 people and sell off/kill many lions.
I don't want to start a political discussion.
But this is what politician often time do.

And it is a waste of time to try an explain that hunting ensure more lions ect...and more jobs...

Looks like it was a great hunt! Did you stop at K F C? And was the chicken just as finger licking good?

who's the PH tending to the Buffalo in the picture ?
