In North Texas we broke the record for the wettest year on record at the end of November and then it started to rain hard. My hunting truck spent most of hunting season looking like this. Its not a LandCruiser but it is a Toyota.

Spud The Wonder Horse. He would slog all day through snow 18 inches deep but won't stick his hoof in 1inch of water. Had to jump over it every time. Made for looonggg days, but better than walking.

After a season the landcruisers get a complete overall, when you out in these remote areas your vehicles have to be in perfect shape.

@Slugs Away , the vehicles take a pounding up there every year. You can't just get on the phone and phone a mechanic, that's if you could even get signal.

This rough and rugged Towncar get me thru bumper to bumper traffic all the way to the airport. when I travel to Africa some times I even turn the AC on low

It's not all Fun and Games, trying to control 4500Lbs of Sheer comfort with only variable ratio power steering and ABS 4 wheel disc brakes to get you from point A to point B, my GPS doesn't always update properly and I have to run the car thru an automatic car wash because it's simple to Large for me to wash,,Sometimes life has to take me back a notch, but I deal with it

@TMS I can relate to that BUT you really should carry a folding chair, or stool to supervise properly, preferably with a mug in your hand, for the perfect photo opportunity!
By the way, we found a solution a few years back, to subcontractors, e.g. plumbers and sparkies who try to operate noisy kit during our smoko or lunch break ... we grab our lunch, drinks, earmuffs and chairs ... and set up in a semi-circle around them.

I learned to drive with this one and it served as a faithful hunting vehicle for many years. Now retired, but still going strong
Replaced the Rover with a Cruiser, what an awesome vehicle, never gives problems. Sad though, will have to replace it sometime, just to keep up with the times.

Thanks for showing us those photos, mate. Series II are good vehicles, if you use them as rated. Most problems seemed to come from guys (not girls) with gorse pockets (and undersized brains) who did not want to use the right vehicle for heavy loads. I also suspect that a lot of work vehicles were damaged through illicit private use. The steering is also far lighter and more direct than any of the V8 series III or V8 Defender models. The 40 series cruisers are great vehicles too, especially with those footwell vents for hot days!

@Rhinoster Hoek Safaris , I remember as a kid hunting with one of those old landrovers in EC, brakes didn't work properly, when we approached a gate someone would run open the gate let it pass and then run after it to get on..
