That was kind of hard! Had to go back to the judging Kudu post to see if I could cheat:nonono: My guess may be wrong but I can tell you one thing for sure, if I see a Kudu like that on my safari, I would definitely shoot, that's a no brainer.

56" on his left side and 55" on his right... i am probably undershooting him a bit. He looks a lot like mine and that is what i am basing my guess on.

57" or so, i really have no idea.

I agree with safari chick. Shoot first, worry about tape later.

I'm going to say 58". Tips are pointing out good twists - definitely a no brainer I would shoot it= as that is much bigger than the one I have!! You have the rest of a life time to tape it - so shoot it first!!!

The correct answer is 55". I am glad to say that all of the PHs that have answered so far were spot on! And that many of the hunters who responded were optimistic. Anyway there was no wrong answer as it is clearly an exceptional trophy. Thanks for playing...

Apparently, I am one of those optimists! I guess that's why I will trust the judgement of my PH.

Well I wish I could tell you that you won that Kudu, but obviously it has already been taken, but you can own the bragging rights... :D.

Its a shooter and a good one too even if only 55" for the optimists ! :)

BTW on long horns like kudu judging the difference between 55" or 56" is almost impossible. Unless the kudu gives you a good view from the front and side and takes his time with the pose. Any fully matured kudu 50" or more is a trophy in my opinion its the hunt that counts not the numbers they are just added extra bonus.

Frederik, I find it strange that we where the only PH's brave enough to venture a guess...

Maybe its because we hang around more with kudus than others

Here is my kudu that was 55.5 so hence my guess as they look like twins...

Karl/Frederik,
I just think it would unfare for me to judge it becuse I KNOW the mesurements to the last mm.
That area realy got some nice Kudus.
Andries.

I voted 55, mostly because the twists are a bit shallow, and I read somewhere that deep curls add a significant amount to lenght.

I´m just a greenhorn, but pleased to see that i had a hit on this one :)

Andries, I figured you had something to do with the demise of the particular kudu! Enjoy the Expo today, I hear its quite good!
