Companies that are Non-Supportive of Hunting

Ok, here's a thought - I noticed that most of my hunting gear is proudly stamped "made in China " I am not aware of anything China has done to benefit hunting. Africa, however, and the southern countries in particular, are very supportive.

Hold on...the thought is forming....

I believe there was an agreement between the USA and some African countries for textiles. Sooooo, the manufacturers of hunting clothing should get it manufactured in the countries that demonstrate an understanding of hunting. This is a proactive stance rather than reactionary. I say write to Browning, Sitka, Kuiu etc and get them to switch!

Found it - The Africa Growth and Opportunity Act exempts imports from listed African countries from import duties to the USA on clothing until 2025.

@johnnyblues you can get the free version of the outdoor channel (called the hunt channel) on a roku cube with an internet connection, not quite as good, but free and legal

They won't. I've emailed all of them and was shocked... Especially looking at the prices. It a damn shame and I've never been so disgusted. Even leupold too shelf binos have Chinese made parts.

It's getting harder and harder to find somewhat "affordable" hunting gear made in the USA anymore. It sucks...

A hunter just shared with me an email, see below, that he received from Chris Sandmann from Namvic Tours & Safaris (namvicsafaris.com) in Namibia after inquiring about possibly renting a vehicle from them after his hunting safari.

Nikon Camera will not allow dealers to carry both the camera line and the sport optic line, because Nikon Camera does not support sport hunting.

I purchase most of my safari clothing from Tag Safari (except for my boots) for the reasons stated above (i.e. - hand made in Zimbabwe, employ hundreds of Zimbabweans, use local grown and processed material, etc.). My safari boots were manufactured by the Courtney Boot Company. Both companies are located in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

Whole foods, I wore a camo shirt in there the other day and those dirty hippies treated me like a second class citizen. The cashier said that hunting was "murder" so I let the manager know, left my crap in the basket and left and wont ever be returning.

- I stayed calm, just for the record I just refuse to do business with anyone that treats me like I am beneath them.

Let's all remember that this thread is for companies that are directly against hunting, either by blatant statement, company actions, or by donations that have been shown to have been given to clearly anti-hunting groups such as PETA.

I have no doubt that Whole Foods has employees that are against hunting, but I haven't seen anything showing the company itself is. If I'm wrong and the information is out there please post it. Thanks!

Well, whatever the company policy is there it didn't seem to affect the way that their employees behave so while they may not be officially against it ill spend money somewhere where the folks are friendlier.

I think there is also the ambiguously anti groups out there that might pander to leftist and hunting causes.

A good example would be TU and Orvis.

Orvis loves conservation and loves fly fishing and loves put-and-take upland bird hunting. However, note that even though they have trips to fish or wingshoot all over the world, they do not advertise big game hunting. Also note that their gun room only sells shotguns, never rifles. Also note that Orvis supports causes that are often inclined to protect fisheries at the exclusion of access for the common man or for financial support for the community at large. (e.g. pebble mine)

TU also seems to have a lot more left leaning political types in their ranks than say the NRA does conservatives.

There will always be these nebulous organizations that are neither fish nor fowl when it comes to "who's side are you on?".
