Bubye Valley Conservancy, Brent Hein, Brent Hein Safaris - Hunt Zimbabwe

Save Conservancy, there are many very good operators. Contact Tim416 (Tim Farren). He is an agent and a good guy.

Hi David,
Welcome to the forum. If you would like to hunt Zim with a top outfit, you could have a look at Martin Pieters. He is also on AH.
Here is his site:

Martin Pieters Safaris :: Omay Zimbabwe Safaris

All the best with the planning of your hunt. I have no doubt that you will have a blast!

Best Regards
Marius Goosen

Second for Martin Pieters, no better in Zimbabwe then him, can't go wrong. Good luck and have a great hunt.

I have researched this heavly the last 2-3 months. Martin Pieters areas are more of big game areas with some plains game mixed in. One of his PHs suggested i visit someone in the Save if i was looking to shoot alot of plains game.
I narrowed it down to Roger whitall safaris and Shannagan Hunters.

The Save is a great place for a plains game hunt and you will also be in an area that has all the big 5 (great africa experience). My nephew and I hunted the Savuli Ranch on the Save last July and I took a buff and leopard and we shot a bunch of great plains game. I hunted with Georgia Safaris (John Hunt) and they have a very nice camp. John is a great guy and excellent PH...I would hunt with him again in a heart beat. Let me know if you would like his contact info. Good luck!

Hi David

Apart from my DG area in the valley ( Omay ), I have a great sable/ plains game area between Bulawayo and Victoria falls. There is a huge variety of plains game at really great prices. The camp is great for families and is malaria and tse tse fly free.

Regards

Martin

Martin,
Didnt mean to step on your toes there.
The discussion i had with your PH was that DG be present in the area i wanted to hunt. Thats when the save came up.

How about some pictures of your hunt. I was next door at Mokore in September. It is a beautiful area.

Another big thumbs up for Martin. I hunted with him in 2009 and leave for the Omay in eight weeks!!!

Mike,

I have never posted photos here and am not sure how. If you can point me to some easy to follow directions I will be glad to post a few.

Hey thanks Jerome...I'll check it out.

OK Mike I think I finally figured this out. Here are photos of 2010 hunt at Savuli.

Congradulations David, I am super happy you had a great hunt...look a lot like my dream hunt minus the sable!

Great photos david, Congradulations on a great safari.

Hi David

Very nice, I love that Cape buff and the bushbuck you got some very nice animals!

After having many discussions with experienced PH's, I was informed Plainsgame is more abundant in the Matetsi and Deka hunting areas.

I've hunted Matetsi a couple of times, and have always found Unit 2 to be great for plainsgame. Last year on an elephant leopard hunt I managed to get - in addition to the elephant (55lbs -- 52 lbs) and leopard - I picked up three impala (bait), a kudu, bushbuck, hyena, waterbuck, eland, and baboon. In the past, I've taken most of these plus cape buffalo, sable and giraffe in Matetsi. Plainsgame is reasonably abundant, and at least where I've hunted, the facilities are fine. i don't think you can go wrong there. No fences and lots of land.

I've hunted with PH Dean Stobbs (dean_stobbs@hotmail.com) every time I've been in Zim, and I'm making him come with me to Zambia when I go there.
