Well that heat wave sure ended. Started this morning in the stand with rain, then freezing rain, then snow...then wind. Although, the complete lack of any bucks was the one constant! It was cool (no pun intended) watching the ice form on the trees.

Dlzbrg,

Yeah I'd say that was a good day! Wow what a mule deer, man that a mule deer dreams are made of! Congrats

I had a lot of fun hunting in my immediate neighbourhood. Moose populations have expanded to the farming country in Saskatchewan, and have created a lot of extra hunting opportunity for residents ( only) with a draw license system. I called two bulls in to rock throwing distance ( had a cow tag) IMG_3143.JPG , saw 5-7 moose each morning that I hunted. Killed a big old cow on the third dayIMG_3290.JPG and helped a young friend get his first, another cow, and then another friend get a bull, also his first. IMG_3313.jpgMade a lot of good meat, which was shared with our families. Also got a spike bull elk as usual, and an average whitetail buck.IMGP0059.JPG I got to hunt whitetails with my sons for the first time in a few years, my youngest took his best buck to date, a heavy one that broke our 300 lb scale. IMGP0023.JPG Wrapped up deer season by helping a kid get a deer on the second last day. My bird hunting was less than usual, a few trips for grouse and pheasant with my dog, and a few ducks filled in the gaps. A good season.

Great pics and stories posted, love the country you guys get to hunt in! It’s been a bit quiet this year for me in Aus, mostly due to low rainfall in most areas, but got a few reasonable pigs for the year, no real big boar but had some enjoyable hunts when work and wife allowed the time off. The few properties we have access to are between 3 and 5 hrs drive from home on the coast. Generally hunting most times of the year, except when wet weather prevents it. The hotter months at the start and end of the year seemed the best this time. Some days we are walking the river country in 38-40 degree heat, hard work, no dogs just walk and stalk. In winter we did an interstate hunt via some friends onto a private property, resulting in a nice even palmed Fallow buck. Hopefully will get a few more local hunts in early in the New Year to burn off some Xmas cheer and in prep for my trip to the East Cape in April / May’16.
Happy New Year and all the best hunting luck in 2016 to you all, time to crack a few coldies for the last day of the year!
Cheers, Markvm

The great part about this forum is seeing the hunting grounds from around the world.

Thanks for sharing everyone.

I agree Brick. It also puts it in perspective what hunting "at home" means to each of us. I lose sight of the fact that a whitetail or elk is a super exotic thing to our friends on the other side of the pond. I think it goes visa versa as well.
