Best Binocular Harness?

I've got the Crooked Horn harness, same style as the first one Brickburn shows and also like Charlie's. It's probably 20 years old and the straps are a bit too springy, but it works. I bought a Cabelas bino cover, the one open in the back that fits over the binos. I jury rigged the covers straps onto the harness straps. The cover slips off the binos when you need them and back on to protect and it doesn't get in the way. I'm sure there are better ones out there, but it worked great on my BC caribou/moose horseback hunt. Kept the 8x42's high and dry.

These harnesses look very comfortable! I think I need this. Can they be used with any binoculars? I haven't actually chosen one of those yet... But I'd like one that works for night vision too. Are there good binoculars that come with the harness?

Grayson,

They are much more comfortable than the standard single strap. I would think they can be used with any bino. I had to attach a very small zip tie to my binos because the harness clip would not fit at the attachment point. A better option would be to add a smallish split ring to the bino that would allow the clip to attach.

One minor issue I had with the harness was on horseback. My old harness allowed the binos to bounce too much when the horse galloped. This may be because of the age of the straps, I don't know.

Don't know of any binos that come with the strap.

When I purchased a bino harness system I added a key ring that has two split rings on them that allows you to disconnect the bino's from the harness and hand them to someone else or to change over to another set of bino's. You can pick them up at just about any auto parts store.

After wearing it to Africa, Colorado, and deer hunting I've used it a pretty decent amount - 4 weeks of use?

It is more compact than anything else I've seen - ease of transport when not wearing
Multiple ways to wear and can be "strapped down" for crawling or horseback
Has not stretched like many due (my biggest fear with this one)
Surprisingly comfortable even in t-shirt - I thought it might hurt on shoulders due to thin cords, but it transfers weight to back and doesn't.

Make sure and look at the "ways to wear" picture. It gives you a great idea.

Me too. My wife liked it so well, she bought one for her binoculars too. So far, both straps have survived 2 safaris, a week of hiking in Glacier NP, a week of hiking in Yellowstone NP, a bear hunt in ID, an antelope hunt in WY and many days of white tail hunting in WI.

What do you think of these Binos: http://www.atncorp.com/atn-nvb5x-2-night-vision-binocular. Won't they be too heavy to carry on a harness? It actually has neck lanyard among included accessories, but I'd like to use it with the harness.

Grayson the harness spreads the weight of the glass over your shoulders vs the neck. It also keeps them out of the way when crawling.

Crooked Horns are great and you can sling them over 1 shoulder when you don't want the binos up front!!
