In 1978 my father took me on my first hunt and I haven't missed a hunting season with him for the last 37 years. I live on the Missouri / Kansas border in the land of big deer but every fall I return to Michigan to hunt with my father and brother, hunting is something we do as a family and I can't imagine hunting any other way. This year I took my 5 year old son with me for his first hunt. He had a great time at camp and hunted with me every day except for one rainy day. You learn a lot about what you can and cant do in a deer stand when you hunt with a 5 year old. I have taken and will take larger trophies in my hunting career but no trophy will make me prouder or happier than this one.

Those are great memories! First deer hunt my dad took me on resulted in me curling up in his lap and going to sleep. All he had were boarded tree stands to hunt out of so he had to sit on the ground with me in his lap.

First dove hunt we went on I was so proud to carry his birds for him. I think we had four and somehow I dropped one along the way. I was so small the doves looked like four mallards in my hands as I carried them by the feet. We backtracked and looked for the one I dropped with the old man complaining to me about how much a box of shell cost him. We never found that damm bird. He loved me dearly but having been raised during the Great Depression he was the biggest tightwad I have ever known. Through the years we laugh about the time I could'nt count to four so I guess he got over it. He taught me all I know about the the woods and how to hunt whitetail, I miss him a lot.

Awesome awesome awesome!!! congrats :)

I also envy you, my step son has no interest in hunting as his father was a non hunter. His father passed away and I really was hoping to connect with him thru the outdoor lifestyle.

KIDS ARE OUR FUTURE ! Congrats.

Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The picture speaks volumes, I treasure the memories of my dad hunting with me and my brothers.

The expression on his face is worth it.

Congrats. Keep him interested.

My son-in-law, grandson BJ and dog (Coco) with Coco's and BJ's first hunt - from, I think, 2011. Didn't mean to hijack this thread, but it seemed appropriate. This was at a game farm.

I do apologize for hijacking this thread. Sorry guys

EXCELLENT!!!
I do my best effort in the task of educate my two sons ( Manuel and Matias) and train both to make themselves a couple of REAL HUNTERS....
When the time pass and they come with me at the country, and show me how both of them becomes the great "little hunters" I dream and beyond .... I feel proud, VERY PROUD, and plenty...
I think you are feeling like me...
CONGRATULATIONS....

Awesome! Raise them to hunt and respect wildlife and they will follow in your footsteps. Where in Michigan do you hunt I was born and raised in Flint. Don't hold that against me I hunted and trapped all over the State with my father.

That's awesome Art! I spend a week every year hunting with my sons and it is the best time of my year!

My family has 80 acres just south of Hubbard Lake, we've been doing habitat improvement and food plots on it for the last 10 years.

Way to go Art.(y)(y)(y)
