Best of luck on the sale of the hunt. It would be an interesting hunt to say the least.

Thanks Enysse
Its going to be a great hunt. Excellent opportunity to take a Mature male at a great price.
I think more and more we need to grab these opportunities to hunt lion now, before some bunny hugger finally closes your imports etc.
As it is there is a push now for an up listing for 2017.

Hi Ian, do you have any pictures of some of the male lions, the size you could expect.

Simon
So far they have only had visual sightings and looked at tracks etc.
The say there are 3 males there. One with a big dark mane and they other two slightly smaller. Two of them have been seen together, the third may be a son.
There are also 3 groups of females that have been seen.

From what I have seen coming out of the area if its showing a lot of dark mane then its going to be a big cat.
The cats have been resident on this piece of ground for a while and have apparently already killed (together with the hyenas) over 100 head of the guys cattle.

I will follow up and see if they have had any hits on the trail cam.
Cheers
Ian

From your description of these lions being stock raiders, is this a PAC hunt? Is it private land or a conservancy? How large is the area that they are roaming? Do you think 10 days will be enough time? Can you be more specific about the location? What will the accommodations be and how much for an observer?

Thanks,
John Ed

John
Yes they are problem animals. They are currently resident on 6000ha and are not roaming. They seem to be content on the private land and have been taking game and cattle regularly.

I will PM you the location.
10 days will be enough but we have the option to extend to 14 if needed.
You are going to be doing a lot of walking so be prepared
Observer will be charged at $120/day
Accommodations are on the land we will be hunting and are comfortable and fairly modern. Hot showers and home cooked meals etc.

We are trying to recoup the losses this farmer has experienced. I am actually trying to convince him that the lions are a gift, not the curse he sees them as.

The harsh reality is that thee cats often get poisoned in the end, we as hunters can at least pump money back in and secure more conservation area in the process.
The benefit to the hunter is you get a wild cat at a great price.

More details to follow via PM
Thanks
Ian

Thanks Ian
I agree with you completely on the conservation aspect of hunting in lieu of poisoning these great beasts. Unfortunately the farmers can only bare so much loss, then the must take the matter into their own hands.

I hope this turns out positive and the farmer succeeds in protecting his stock, recoups some of his losses and a hunter takes a very special trophy. That's the win/win for everyone, lions included. The economic value that is placed on all wildlife is what protects them in the end.

100% John
If only people would all see it that way.
Anyway, lets hope someone snaps up this opportunity before its too late.
Have a great day
Ian

Update from the farm owner today.
The males are still with the group and were sighted in the North western corner.
Will have an update again tomorrow. Hoping they can get some trail cam shots to us soon.

Ian,
Great offer on the lion, and I personally would look forward to the challange of a difficult hunt. Any chance of additional trophies with extension of a couple days? Damara dik dik and other indigenous species would have me ready to pack. Thanks, Tom
