LIMPOPO
I just booked my first trip to South Africa (Limpopo Province). I will be hunting with Hunting Legends and was wondering if anyone has hunted with them before? I am beyond excited and June can't get here fast enough. It will be a plains game hunt with my number 1 target being a Kudu. My wife will also be coming along.

Search the hunting reports and you should get some information.

Love Kudu hunting.

You will never look at hunting the same after your first safari. Good luck and have fun!

Wish you the best of luck in your first Safari

This is so true. The people, weather, and terrain are very much like where I grew up but the variety and density of game is just staggering.

I made my first trip this July/August and I am completely obsessed with getting back.

Good luck with your hunting @Kyle

You will enjoy your trip in the Limpopo tremendously :)

Good luck play safe and take lots of pictures ....in fact for many more pictures take along an extra SD card and ask you PH to switch it out on one of his active game trail cameras .

Go to their web site and under the Trophy Gallery header watch the video by Jim Burnworth and it shows some of the different Lodges their. I didn't hunt there but about three months after I hunted with Bushman Quiver, Stephen combined his company with Hunting Legend so if he works his magic with their land you and your wife will have a great time and I will bet you will get some great trophies. Looking forward to see your report and photos.

Tom Stephan is who I have been dealing with I met him and his wife at a ttha show in Chorpus Christi and had a great vibe from them from the word go. They both made me feel very comfortable making my decision and Looks like a incredible venue.

Welcome!

Enjoy the trip and the rest of the planning! You can never read or learn too much about hunting in Africa. And besides, it is fun too!

Lots of kudu addicts here on AH. There are several threads on judging kudu to go with the hunt reports.

Have a great time. Prepare to become addicted!

Feeling exited on your behalf Kyle, hope you will find a monster kudu. They are definitly roaming the Limpopo Province

On my first trip last May I passed a number of smaller kudu bulls. On the next to last day I shot my gemsbok. Then on the last day my PH and the safari operator took me out along with 2 extra trackers and another hunter. We passed on a couple of smaller bulls and then we saw one that was a good bull but my PH didn't want me to shoot it but the operator did. They had a short argument and then we went on. A short ways later we saw another nicer bull in some trees but I couldn't tell just how big he was. We watched him for over a hour before he moved to where I could see his horns but then I had no shot, a short while later he laid down, still no shot.
About a hour later we spotted some cows coming his way and figured that he would stand up to check them out, then my PH saw horns above the brush. To make a long story short here was my bull, he turned broadside and it was all over on the last 1/2 day of my hunt. He is the one in my avatar.

So if you are not seeing what you want to shoot try and wait it out. A lot of times it works out for the better.

Have a great trip. Like others have said, you will come back with a new outlook on hunting. I completed my first African hunt last month and it certainly changed my outlook on Africa and hunting. Only problem is I cant't wait to get back there.

Good luck. And you will dream about going back everyday when you get home.

Good luck on your first safari! There is avast amount of information on this forum, with everyone being very helpful. Enjoy your prep time. My only suggestion is to make sure your wife has as good a set of bino's as you. My wife fell in love with the bush on our first trip, she was going to go out with me a day or two and after the first Kudu she spotted on the hillside:) She was the first one at the truck each day. She hunted her first time on our first trip and we had our second safari in May this year and her taxidermy bill is higher than mine. Have a great time.

You will spend as much in taxidermy as you do the hunt :D

Good luck with the planning. Just remember to take how much you were budgeting, then double it. That'll be what you actually need.
