So I was watching some tv last night and one show was about elephants in Etosha. Of course the researchers there gave them all cute little names and were talking about their different personalities and what not. Trying to get the viewers to have empathy. Definitely a pro animal/ anti hunting undertone, though hidden, it was there.

The next show was also about a certain critter in the Africa bush. This time the narrator (washed up Darryl Hannah) had a cute name of "Mercury" for the critter, and throughout the show kept mentioning "Mercury's" personality and emotions. "Showing affection" to her mate," being "shy", and on and on. Well if you weren't watching the show and just listening to the audio, one would think it may be about a lioness, or some warm and fuzzy animal. Not even close. This show was all about a BLACK MAMBA! Give me a freaking break. I sat there and laughed about how ridiculous it has gotten.
I'm waiting for the next Black Mamba lives matter crusade to start up.

Looks like we should save a few thousand cuddly black mamba for a vegan dinner party.

I enjoy watching nature shows on occasion and that seems like the latest trend. Many shows give the animal a name like this and talk about its human like emotions. Sad thing is when I think about for some people this is their only exposure to nature. No wonder they go bat crap crazy over a lion.

I'm strongly in favor of anthropomorphism.

My wife named several of the animals I shot. How do you think I got the taxidermy in the living room???:cool::cool:

I used to keep "hot" snakes and arachnids as pets and still like them. having extensive experience with some of the most venomous animals on the planet I can tell you first hand that THEY DO NOT THINK OR FEEL THE SAME WAY WE DO! my Northern Pacific rattlesnake was very docile and would allow people to move around it and even move it (with a snake hook) but make the slightest wrong move and its a quick trip to the ER.

if you attempt to apply human emotions to these animals you will likely pay with your life. Cecil would have happily eaten a human child without a second thought or feelings of remorse. wild animals will see humans as either predator or prey and will react accordingly whether you act hostile or not.

Disney shoulda used that one in "The Lion King".........

.........."can you feel the love...tonight"

Lol I agree completely though I had to get a dictionary out to see what the title meant.

Clark Kudu, Willie from Wyoming (elk) and Chui (black bear from Alasksa). Well worth it to have them in the great room. Will probably be putting the Halloween decorations on them this weekend.

This is what happens when you think that animals have feelings and can be reasoned with. sound is important

That was hysterical @thriller ! The whole time I am imagining the bear thinking, "I don't understand a word you are saying lady..."
