That is one HELL of a talented plastic surgeon!!!! Bruce......I mean, Caitlyn.....would have done well to have his......I mean, her surgery done in S.A.!!!:ROFLMAO::LOL:

(Sorry, guys.............couldn't resist! Just trying to lighten the mood a little.)[/QUOTE

Sorry friend, but there's no plastic surgeon in the world who could make Jaco into that. And not enough Jack Daniels in the world either!!

Pieter it's unimaginable Loodt has only said "will issue a media statement soon". That is not the right answer. He had time to write that why not just say it was a mistake or I will make it right I made a mistake.

Agree with you.

Guys I did not want to post again and some will say I am just backing loodt. But having a cell to get online and answer the seriousness of this with that is very hard. We all want to know what happen but because we want to know if it it 1 page or 10 page thread does not matter. He will answer it and then we can decide how we each want to judge him. This is not a subject to take lightly and loodt is not at all. There is a lot to go through deciding on how to answer this all. RUSHING to a judgement on a wounded or unwounded animal is what started this whole mess.

For all who want to judge me that's your right but if they want royal and loodt are both free to tell what I told them and if I am unfair to either of them. They are both my friends and I put myself in the middle to try and help them not make one look better then the other. I have done what I thought is right in my eyes and feel like I did right by both of them for doing so.

I hate to say it but Loodt's statement is something a politician would say....I personally don't care for that. I am sure he will address soon but still....

I don't believe whatever Loodt says or does to make this right will bring closure or repair broken trust and friendships. This went on too long. It is bad for Royal it is a game changer for Loodt and from the Outfitters that posted on here it is going to be bad publicity for the South African and African hunting industry, like SA can afford to loose more hunting business or needs more bad publicity.

Billc I don't think anyone is judging you by association, you did what you could to put the fire out. No friend should expect another friend to sit in the cross fire.

Loodt, you have a few very nice gentleman backing you on here, just like they did when you came onto AH the first time and there was other issues. These gentleman not only backed you verbally but also financially by hunting with you. I don't know you and I can't speak for who and what you are,but I can tell you this. You have let these gentleman down with your actions and decisions which is a great pity as they held you in high esteem. What bothers them even more is the time it has taken you to respond to a serious issue. What bothers me is the blow SA Outfitters and PH's will take because of this, because in the end we are all part of one "hunting family".

Best camo ever! ;)

Good day Everyone,

I have uploaded the press release and invite all interested and affected parties to read it and welcome any recommendations and or comments directed to my email: loodt.buchner@tootabi.com Anyone can post the same comment which is e-mailed to me on this forum as well, but if I receive a comment via e-mail I know that I would definitely respond and have no reason not to, it would be an honour to do so. Whereas if it is posted online (which I invite you to do as well) I might pass it unconsciously and not respond which can leave questions.

As an update, I have conversed with @Royal27 and cleared everything out with him. I will abide by my contract and whatever is expected of the client/hunter applies to me as an outfitter and I have agreed (verbally) to refund him the entire amount of the Blue Duiker.

Thank you for bringing all of this to our attention as we value feedback from our clients, because feedback is the breakfast of champions. We are terribly sorry that you as a member , client and friend might feel disappointed, but we want to assure you that we are not looking over any of our mistakes but rather look at ways on how to incorporate strategies to prevent these mistakes/errors from happening again.

We look forward in hearing from all of you.

Kind regards,

I have no problem with someone wanting to organize their response in a way that best communicates the information. I say this is probably wise considering the public scrutiny of his actions and how he is perceived could affect his business.

Cool Loodtie,! Hopefully all parties can move on you're doing the right thing....
As a final on the thread, to lighten the mood!

I just told my boss he can expect some productivity now :A Banana:!! Loodt, you did what I, and probably many of us here, expected you would do all along. No judgment or condemnation here. Bravo on a happy ending!! Kevin

It's easy to rush to judgement, but waiting to get things settled with Royal was the right thing tp do before posting here, if he was busy with clients at the time they deserved his immediate time and this could wait till now to clear up as the damage was already done. Mistakes can happen out of inexperience, paper work at a different concession and a host of other reasons. A mistake was made on an invoice of mine in Africa in my favor of $1200 dollars, if I hadn't caught it the outfitter would have cheated himself. Another time a $50 mistake was made in my favor by office staff and I didn't catch it till I got home.

Good to see resolution and appreciate the professional response from Loodt. I can appreciate the thought placed in his statement and glad we can all learn from this experience. Royal I am glad you are getting your money back, and Loodt I appreciate your shared learnings acknowledging your mistake - I have made many of my own. How we handle adversity separates the men from the boys.

Let's get back to discussing our next hunt!

Hi Loodt. I have never posted on a thread about you. The release is well done. My comment is that this is about 3 days late.......... I realize you were hunting. This affects a part of your future. Hard to argue with your replies. You likely would of been better off missing 3-6 hrs of sleep one night. Left your client and gotten to a reliable computer/connection and got this taken care of. School of hard knocks. Sometimes we have to learn things the hard way. Best of luck and have a good hunting season. Bruce

Very well said. All the best to both parties involved.

Very well done Loodt.....you did the rigth.....you did all of us were waiting for here.....!!!!

My best for you and Royal....!!!!

All,

Loodt and I did talk and he has agreed to refund the $1200 as stated. I haven't read the press release, so I won't comment on that yet, if I even need to.

We also talked about his billing system and some of its current limitations, especially around deposits. I recommended that he get that fixed ASAP so that a deposit can be properly reflected as a credit on a bill.

I hope that this thread has helped both outfitters and clients and that it will continue to do so in the future. That was my intent. In my very first post I stated a "moral of the story." I think the moral is still pretty much the same, and applies to us all, regardless of whether we are client, or outfitter.

Moral of the story from my point of view:

1. Don’t agree to things outside of a contract in the heat of the moment. Give yourself some time, or it could cost you money, or more.

2. Know the contract and ensure that you stick to it. Only you can protect you, others may not.

3. Always check your bill closely even if it should be straightforward. Not doing so can again cost you money.

P.S.

I think the post by @Mr. 16 gauge about @Jaco Strauss was the best single post to be put on AH, EVER!!!! OMG.... :A No1:
