New Double .577NE | 600NE | 700NE

Guys, I appreciate the input...

I am looking for a caliber for ellie backup - the 470 will continue to do the rest.

Will be doing some testing between the .577 and the .600 next week. Tests will be on Hyem or Verney Carron and Sabattie.

Will keep you posted on feedback...
 
I don't blame any PH's owning a 500 or greater, hell if my life was on the line every day I'd own one too.

You guys are all young and in your prime (mostly).... I would like to jump ahead 20 or 30 years and see what you carry then... if you can still hear me. It is your life on the line, so use what you must but use it well.
 
I frankly could care less what Sullivan allows in his camp. My S2 cocking slide works exactly like a Krieghoff. If I am paying the daily rate, he can decide whether he wishes to stay or leave, but the S2 and I aren't going anywhere.

I don't have a dog in this fight (unfortunately), but I love your sentiment, Red!
 
I will go for the squirrel and rabbit double...470NE. So far I have not been let down by 375, 458wm or 416 rigby. I don't want to set @spike off...but I was watching videos of Mark's hunts last night with my ph's, 20 minutes was enough, how does he keep a straight face when you can clearly see he is the only one that has shot.

yup you said, and i was talking to tinus about it and he said he had met her in ndola one time, and she was saying how you wanted to hunt some zambian species.........:D
 
Yeah, she mentioned she spoke to Tinus. I am after a Kafue Lechwe and Defassa Waterbuck from there. But I think the double may be a bit overkill ;)

well i have used my .416 rigby for driven boar and i seem to recall someone on here , i think maybe from sweden using his .470 for the same, so a .577 or .600 should be fine on lechwe and waterbuck........and maybe a sable as i am sure you would be tempted........;):D

Suddenly my job feels so boring! I wish I had my PH papers, lived in Africa, and could convince the Mrs., that my job REQUIRED a new double! Lol I have to beg for a month and do the dishes to order my new Winchester .458! In any case, I can't wait to hear what you decided. Keep us posted!
