New USA requirements in addition to the form 4457

Here is the reason the new gun law came into affect......
In 2012 Hilary proposed a bill that the UN will take over all gun control for the USA...
It was SHOT down....
So Barry signed an executive order affecting the existing commercial export firearm law (CFR Regulations noted in ICE letter) that has been in affect for quite sometime.
Therefore, the commercial system is being manipulated to accept your EIN number, created to be a 'business' that must be used to get the ITN Filing required for the temporary export of your firearms. That is why you have to file an EIN# and you have NO business......
Also an executive order CANNOT be overturned until he leaves office..... (Wish he left in 2008 )....
So with all this filing and jumping through hoops, the government has its first steep in gun control.
1) The 4457 is proof of ownership, you need it to come back into the US and to enter Africa..... So don't loose because they won't replace it down the road...
2) The 4457 is not in ANY computer, it is a hand written paper and stamped by customs.
3) Now with the EIN# and the ITN# they KNOW you have a gun and its make, model, and SN......

Our former Liberal government signed us up to this UN BS but as much as I despise them they did it because they had a majority government. Barry is acting like a tinpot dictator ignoring the duly elected majority in Congress and the Senate and imposing his agenda by royal fiat. Kind of like his African counterpart Robert Mugabe

That's all I have to say about that.

I have lots of strikes against me;

1. Former Marine Infantry
2. Former FFL and Ammo Manufacture Licence holder
3. At least $10k in online powder, bullet and primer purchases in just the past 6 years
4. History of gun and hunting license purchases
5. Voted in every Republican primary in the past 30 years

They already have my number. Knowing I have Boddington Kudu #173 of 250 is not really going to tip the scales. :)

By law, you do NOT list the serial number of firearm(s).

*Note: Firearm serial numbers are NOT to be included in the Automated Export System (AES) filing per the Firearms Owners Protection Act 18 USC 926(a)(3). Only make, model, caliber/gauge is required.

I made a post on another post earlier with much info. Contact me at, r_heintzman@Hotmail.com and I will send everything the CBP/DHS agent in Minneapolis sent me. The form you fill out on the AES website 7525-V and how to fill it out, Schedule B# Numbers, ECCN numbers. Yup, my head is swimming.

And what do US citizens do who are resident in an African country?
Does one carry the firearm(s) everytime one makes a business trip to the US? Ridiculous!

From the other place I read @Frostbit got his rifles checked in with Emirates airlines in Seattle with no issue. He and his wife are on their way to what sounds like will be one heck of a safari.

Yup!!

Ok so i spent about 2 hours last night going through this 'wonderful' process (granted i probably spent 1 hour trying to get that God damn 12 character password to take). Overall it is not rocket science but it certainly is frustrating. and i wish i had read the comment about not adding the serial number before i did it. Oh well I submitted and immediately got an email with a ITN - auto generated i assume.
Bitter sweet feeling; sweet is the feeling of completing this unnecessarily complicated process without having to pay someone to do it for me,... bitter is the feeling that you just got f***ed by the government - again. Kinda like completing your taxes.

I guess now i print the email with the ITN and present it along with the 4457 at the airport??? - anyone know for sure?

I would like to say something about the serial #

Here is the disadvantage of not putting in your serial #.
Every rule in a Government agency is up to the discretion of the officer.
So, they have all your information by filling out the form except the serial #.
You go to the airport and you give the agent your ITN # and then he says
"you don't have a serial # listed with this ITN#"
He then tells you that "you're going to miss your flight until this gets fixed"
Now you need to file a new ITN # and change your flight which completely upsets your arrangements.
We deal with all the Government agencies in the major 6 ports in the USA and they all have different interpretations of the law...

So what is the advantage of not putting in the serial number?

I'm no expert, but here's what I know, lately..........I got an ITN with the help of a friend who has a good working relationship with a customs guy. I did not have to get an EIN, which is great news. They sent me a copy of the "Shippers Letter of Instructions and Forwarder Authorization" along with the ITN, and shipment reference #. In the description column, I have listed my rifle with model # and serial #. Also listed as another item in the same column is 60 rds of ammo, with caliber. These guys are professionals, so I'd say err on the safe side and give them your serial#. If someone has a big problem with that, then use the outfitter's rifles.

Secondly, a friend of mine called me about 30 minutes ago from the Dulles airport, on his way to SA and Namibia for the 28th time. He said the TSA guys didn't ask anything about an ITN, but United Airlines did ask, wanted to see the ITN#, and when it was provided to them they said fine and dandy and everything went on smoothly. He found it odd that TSA never did mention it, but the Airlines did.

Hope this helps. I'm just the messenger.

I really wouldn't be too worried about taking a firearm out of the US but you have to bring it back into the country and through US Customs.

This is where I think that you are going to need that ITN # with your rifles serial number on. Or you may just loose your rifle for a time if not for ever.

JimP
The ITN# is for export....
Your 4457 will be for import......
Don't loose your 4457 you will not get another, you also need it to enter Africa with a firearm...

I hope this will help....

I think I've done all of the difficult things. I have my EIN number and passed the AES quiz. I have also downloaded the AES link to my computer. Now all I have to do is file for my flight. Are there any tricks or difficult issues with the filing? My trip is not until the end of May. How far in advance should I register and get my ITN #. Thanks

I think you should get cracking on it now.

Nothing to be gained by waiting....can only trip you up.

Tim

There may be a reason to wait for a while just in case you change flights but I have no idea.

Tara at SSI told me that she would get me mine about 2 weeks before I fly out.

So I expect mine about the first week in May.

24 days and counting.......

Hoping for some help here with AES.

I've put in all my info. I'm flying on Delta and the only way I could get the shipment to save was to use the DAL code under the "Carrier SCAC/IATA" section. Does anyone know if this is the correct one?

On the ULT Consignee tab I used my companies address, which is my home address. I read that you were supposed to put the address you are going to but that's not what I read on the AES website. Or I read it wrong. Can anyone confirm what address to use?

In the Commodities section I put a value for my rifle/scope on the 1 commodity and the value for my ammo. I guess we make a logical estimate on the value of the firearm and ammo?

Last but not least they ask a question if any of the commodities are hazardous. I put no but am not sure if the ammo would be considered hazardous. I tried to follow the link that explains this but it was a dead end. I need to do some more searching but any info on this would be appreciated as well.

Thanks for the info in advance.

Took this from a thread over on AR on the subject. The pdf file is pretty helpful I'm told for those doing it themselves.

"I was told ammo would go on its own commodity line. it has its own code as I explained on my PDF form of the same instructions.

http://www.docdroid.net/xrsx/a...nstructions.pdf.html

I was also told that you do NOT want to enter your company EIN as the USPPI. I believe you want this to be in YOUR NAME, not a company name. I can see possible issues when you are trying to explain to a customs official that your company is the one exporting the firearms not you..."

I just went through this and am leaving 3 may. It is a real hassle, they may enforce it and may not. I am leaving from Minneapolis MSP. I have not got the 4457, how much time does it take to get it at the airport?
