Whilst Zambia has just witnessed a two year ban on Government concessions during the interim there has been some excellent hunting that was had on unfenced private lands and smaller reserves such as Takeri which is advertised here.

The unfenced areas of Munyamadzi, Nyamvu, Nyakolwe, Munyamadzi, Royal Kafue and the newly formed Kanzutu have continued to provide world class hunting in what can best be described as old Africa. Game has flourished under intensive management and these private concessions offer some of the best of Africa. Zambia can boast an amazing array of record class species at affordable prices. For your money you experience a safari in big game country in traditional settings. A safari dictated by large bore rifles, the grim and beautiful.

Enclosed are some recent photographs of the country, hunting and the game.

Yes that some incredible good photos, any news regarding the cats ????
A bird whispering some nice and promising words some weeks ago.. after that silence..

Andrew,

Thank you for posting. Your photography skills are amazing. The picture of the camp under the stars is one of my favorites.

You need to be commended for your support of the wildlife and hunting industry, not just for your concession, but for the other concessions you mentioned, even though you compete for clients.

I am close to pulling the trigger on the hunt with Leon. Buffalo, roan, and some other plains game. This will be my 7th trip to Africa but the first to Zambia and the first time not hunting with a Zimbabwean PH. So I am a little nervous. But going to a new hunting concession is exciting and I am certain Leon and I will hunt well together.

Awesome, Zambia has definitely made my short list. Especially after the kanzutu offer posted a week or so ago. I can't get it out of my head. It's making it very difficult to stay focused on going after a leopard for my next safari.

Mike,

You may never go back to Zim once you have experienced Zambia. If I could afford to hunt then I would be exploring and hunting buffalo with Leon in Kanzutu.

Mike,

We are working on dates but it looks like early August. I will probably have an extra day or so upfront. I will not fly in, drive to a concession, and start hunting. Too many time zones for that. It is nice to have a day or two to relax before the hunting starts.

Absolutely agree and your safari should not be a frantic. Good hunting and I very much look forward to a report. August is a prime month and the climate mild.

I've had a similar struggle lately and have been debating whether to do Leopard or Zambia for my next Safari. Either way I'm probably looking at 2018. :(

Andrew,

Beautiful photos. Some truly magnificent trophies as well.

Very kind of you to promote your competitors as well as yourself. I hope you all do well.

Mike T,

Great photos also.

Mike B,

Hope you have a great hunt. Sounds like a special experience to be one of the first ones in an area, in a while. Hope you tell us all about it and share some photos.

In the next two-three years I plan to take the trip down to Kapiri Mposhi on Tanzam. (this is how us poor hunters arrive) We will then see if I have any friends to come pick me up and take me hunting.;)

drive through kapiri on way to and from takeri :)

I like your idea but I still would need some one to pick me up and give me a ride.

I probably was not clear Mike. What I call Tanzam (from the days when it was being built) you youngsters probably call Tazara. What you probably call Tanzam, I still call the Great North Road (rut). In other words, I would still need a ride from Kapiri. Can I thumb a ride?(y)(y)(y) I doubt I am man enough to take Tanzam/Tazara both ways:( so I will probably fly out of Lusaka at the end of the hunt.:D

@Wheels sorry the i didnt appear at the beginning. it should have said i drive through kapiri staying on the ndola road on the way to takeri, and then about 30kms after kapiri you turn left to mpongwe. to stay on the great north road you turn right after kapiri where there is a service station and weighbridge for trucks. exiting kapiri going north you can see the train turntables on the right.
