Found some amazing biz class deals on Emirates I'll pass along. Round trip USA to Jo'burg for $4000.

It appears they were also the only fully refundable ticket.

Any issues with checking guns through or other problems with emirates?

Might want to check them out as the flights sure did seem cheap for a premiere carrier.

when I looked into emerites flight (from Australia)
they were more than positive and helpful when it came to firearms , and instantly forewaeded everything I needed to get the ball rolling ,on the permits
where I had to give up on the deal was there over baggage policy
29 kgs stored luggage
and 7 kilo carry on
anything over would cost 94 aussie dollars per kilo , per flight
I was planning from Melbourne to dubia
dubia to Lusaka
and the same on the return
I just couldn't get the weight down to that ......
and then I couldn't (they wont allow it ) pay over the phone by credit card

they sound like a good company ,and definitely friendly enough
including hunter friendly
but the over luggage tariff ,is a hurdle I couldn't get over

if it is the same rules where you are
be carefull
you don't over pack or buy to much nik naks on the way home

Found South African airlines had great baggage allowance extra 23kg sporting goods allowance, meant that my twin gun pelican with 2 guns at no extra cost.

wish l had of looked further into them , as im flying from j/bourg to Lusaka with them
not much difference flying Melbourne to Sydney with qantas , or Melbourne to perth with saa, on either transit
Qantas is usually pretty good for extra luggage weight . I think when I booked they gave me extra luggage for 17 bucks either way

bloody 1200 aussies extra with Qantas than saa, l remember that

Nearly impossible to take guns through Dubai if that is the route you would be going. You have to have approval from the Dubai Government by way of a letter ahead of time. You are not just dealing with the airline legally but also local law enforcement. Yes I saw those good deals as well and asked the question on using Emirates on my trip to Kyrgyzstan but just too risky. I flew Turkish Airlines on that trip and they were great. Maybe it will get easier or they will change their policy. I would like to hear from those who have flown through Dubai with guns.
Regards,
Philip

they sent me everything I needed in the way of forms to get my firearm and bow through dubia,
it did need to be done in advance of my flight
an a couple of blokes on here , agreed that it was quiet easly accomplished

I flew Emirates in 2012 from Houston to Dubia then on to Joberg. Will be using them again this June to SA. I had no problems . You will need to apply for UAE temp permit to transit but its easy and done thru Emirates. Don't let that stop you from using them.

Some friends of mine have flown with Emirates and they had no problems whatsoever with their guns. You do have to process your paperwork in advance, but the airline takes care of it.

I checked it out also and by doing the numbers I'm with in maybe $300 total using Delta from Las Vegas to Joberg as it is with Emirates from LAX to Joberg by the time if figure time and getting to LAX as opposed to LAS. For me its worth the extra $300 to go 1 airline from LAS , 1 connection in ATL and 1 NON stop flight from the USA to Jberg. Also I looked at the travel time from LAX to Jberg vs Delta from LAS and it was shorter over all. Would have liked to try it but for me it makes no sense.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
