Africa's not just about the hunting. Enjoying a Boer tradition, my 13yr old son Macen and assistant PH Allphyus Kruger had a great time catching and releasing this Spring Hare (unharmed).

This wild dog shot by my 14 year old son James. We had just taken out a wild pig when we saw two dogs crossing an open plain. By the time we got close they were entering the tree line, so only one dog taken. Wild dogs have a terrible smell that gets in your skin, and anything the dog touches. Hence James is holding the dog with finger tips.

We use motorbikes and two way radios to search and then pursue many feral animals (pigs, goats, foxes, dogs). My son James is my key hunting companion, but we usually hunt with friends given the friendship and camaraderie, as well as the need to have numbers to cover these big areas (this photo taken on a 65,000 acre property 3 hours from home). The days are long, generally hot, and mostly in flat semi arid country. However, the novelty rarely wears off, as there is always a pursuit of some sort to keep the adrenaline running.

good shot on the young dog.
bloke l know the smell, youre on about

The boys 'plinking' with the 22LR's at one of our bush camps. Notice the Remington 'bucket of bullets' next to the boy in the foreground. Endless amusement when you only pay $85 for 1,400 rounds!

Thought I would finish my entries with a photo of a our No.1 freshwater fish (Murray Cod) and a couple of ice cold beers. Good luck to all the other contestants, and thanks to Arc Africa Hunting Safari's for putting up a great prize. Enjoy your hunts. Regards Brad

Hi Bluey, happy to put up a report or two. I love taking young people out hunting and camping, especially those from the cities or towns who don't have access to the bush. Also keen to get fathers and sons into the bush. It is a great bonding experience for them, and one they usually remember for life. Talk soon. Regards Brad
