Im sure I will start a poo storm with this but.... I was doing my usual flipping through the program guide and recording every hunting show or show in general about Africa. I came across "Pig man" the series who happened to be in Africa. I recorded the show and was absolutely pissed by the end of it. What a jerk. He spent the whole show criticizing everything he could about all the ph' s and safari companies he was with. It was 30 min of him bitching about everything from the weather, their blinds, or the fact that the ph couldn't make a bushpig appear from thin air. He also showed his lack of respect by taking horrible low percentage shots on game. The guy shot a Bontebuck, he was hunting with a bow and the wind was obviously howling. He even commented on the fact that the shot was near impossible and TOOK IT ANYWAY. It was at 103 yards with about a 20 mph wind. Really. This guy has NO class and makes us all look like a bunch of fools. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. I'm sure the PH's worked their asses off for him and got nothing in return but rude criticism and childish attitude. Not to mention an obvious lack of ethics. I feel relatively certain he got this series of hunts for free or at a significant discount due to advertising. Unfortunately for them it appears to have been a bad investment. This guy is a classless idiot.

The name alone says it all. I too couldn't make it through a show.

Haven't seen it Gizmo but glad you gave me the heads up so I can skip it.

I saw the other day he was doing an episode in Africa. Thought about giving him a 2nd chance, glad I didn't.

I watch his shows regularly.... He is a high intensity redneck. In context he can be humorous. He is based out of Texas.... almost exclusively hog hunts. Most of his shows are prideful, fist bumping, chest pounding over the animal. Typically, somewhat funny. He has done 3 or so Africa shows. Primarily with Comre Safari's on the Cape I believe. They were ok.... he shot like 20+ animals. That being said. I think the bitching you are referring to, was him being a smart ass in "character", trying to be funny for his audience. I think for his regular viewers, they just thought it was par for the course. He speaks very highly of Africa & encourages everyone to go.

As outdoor channels have expanded, they've had to look for more "content". This has resulted in more than a few shows with terrible hosts, and poor production values including awful camera work and bad lighting. And content that is often embarrassing. (Hog Dawgs anyone?)

As long as there is airtime to fill, and sponsors to advertise, I expect this trend to continue. All we can do is refuse to watch more than once.

BWH, you are correct......
Pigman is our client, he play's that character...
I got to spend time with him and is not like that at all.
Still funny and would give the shirt off his back if need be.

Just my two cents....

Can't stand him. Try to watch every show I can on Africa, but not his. Just the type of publicity the hunting community doesn't need.

I watched some of his earlier shows but it just whore me down to the point I saw that Africa show was going to start, and I got up and went to do something productive. So hats off to the Pigman for getting me out of my recliner and moving!

I think the last episode I watched was where he was drive some totally redneck, jacked up, hyped up, over loaded, gadget encrusted, second mortgage home loan default causing excuse of a pickup truck. Bla bla bla to the guy riding with him about his great yuck truck. I think I made it to the first turnoff he made and then turned him off.

So if he is only in character, I can understand he may be a great guy.. .in fact I bet he is... But I sure don't care for the character.

Robert,

That is a very good point. Many "TV Personalities" are much different in person than on TV. The much maligned Mark Sullivan is one. People that know him say he is a great guy. However, I would never buy one of his videos because of how he portrays hunting. It seems this Pigman character may suffer from a similar on camera affliction.

Being good guys away from the camera does not excuse them from being accountable for their poor behavior in front of the camera.

I'm sure he's a good guy and would be a fun guy to share a campfire with. It is the character I don't like, personally. Different strokes for different folks is all.

Man, that's bad.....:whistle::);)

You are correct ..... we all have have to make a living and thats his.....
Not that I'm promoting him, just saying it takes all kinds to make the world go round.....

There are hundreds of different hunting/fishing show options out there.... they are not all for everyone. Not everyone loved Ted Nugent or Colorado Buck or Steve Scott or J Alain Smith or Craig Boddington, etc.....
I would say most of it is for "TV". I mean look at all the new "huntresses" nowadays. They are like supermodels with tiny waist & biggo titties! That is for you the viewers.... and ratings! I am thankful for BTW.... :)
Nevertheless.... there is a remote not far from your Lazy Boy, I am sure. Make sure it is hot with AA's and click away.

Remember the old country song called "where's the dress?"

For those who don't, the premise was that Boy George mad a LOT of money wearing a dress and that the singers would be HAPPY to wear a dress for that kind of money!

That's my point. He could be the greatest guy in the world but acting like a bafoon and being unethical, 103 yard gut shot animal with a bow, is exactly the ammunition the anti-s need to portray us to the general public. Jim Shockey, Ivan Carter, Steve Scott, and J Alian Smith work their asses of to show the truth and show our wonderful sport in an honest and conservation minded light. They are real class acts. They have spent years educating and proving the anti's wrong. This fellow, nice guy or not, can set public opinion back years in one episode that the above guys have spent a decade or more building. You can be funny and a little mischievous with out being an ass.

I cant say I have seen the show, but there are a few of those idiots in England too. We dont get any hunting shows on the TV in England, the anti's would cause a sh@t storm.
