Brno rifles big bore

I have a 602, munufactered in 1972, that is a factory chambering, all barrel.and action numbers match. I purchased it form a very knowledgeable Gunsmith prior to him passing and even he said that by all accounts it is a factory original chambering, there are a couple floating around but quite rear.
I have seen 602s in 300 win mag 358 norma mag, 375 h&h, 416 Rigby and 458 win mag.

The .358 Mag were very few made and the rarest of them .

Hi,

The first ZKK602 were only made in 358 NORMA, 375 H&H and 458 Winchester. In later years, '90s, the 358 N was changed for the 300 Win Mag. I never saw an oficial catalog with 404 J, 416 R or other cartridges. But saw a few converted from 358N to 404J, 375 to 416 R and from 458W to Lott. This action, and the CZ 550 as well, were used for 460 Weatherby, 500 J and even 505 G.

.358 NM sadly failed , was a reloader cartridge from start of and Norma loaded it with too brittle bullets to begin with . The Norma Alaska for .358 Win . And poor marketing .
And in recent ammo they also had brittle bullets . That destroyed my faith in it after a hunt so sold that jinxed rifle sadly .

Hi PerH,

Agree. The 358 NORMA and, specially, the 308 NORMA, were excelent designs!! With today bullets the 358 compeats with the 338 Win. About the 308 N, is a much better design than the 300 Winchester Mag!!!

Here you can see from an old article the difference in bullet quality for it

250 Np to the left , Norma Alaska to the right.

Until late '80s the only serious bullet widely available in the USA was the Nosler Partition. Today the NORMA load for the 358 N uses their propietary Orix bullet. Great bonded core one!!

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
