The "basics" for guns in America

It will even work for those ladies whom you allow to purchase one on their own.

Congratulations. You are the first winner of the new Ray B award.

A couple of thoughts to consider:
  • The old Rem 788 in 243, 30-30 or 308 is great but these days they are bringing premium money.
  • The new Ruger Hawkeye Hunter Compact is available in 243, 308 or some other calibers and comes with a 12.5" LOP and 16.5" bbl. Nearly perfect for ladies or smaller guys, kids etc.
  • About any short bbl rifle but fit it with one of the adjustable LOP stocks from Boyds, McMillan or others such as Manners depending on your budget. A nice Tikka with an upgraded stock is a fine pkg for anyone.

It will even work for those ladies whom you allow to purchase one on their own.
You said no one answered your questions even though you were given information which allowed you to work it out, as no single stock fits all, and you still want an exact answer. This shows a lack of understanding inregards to actual stock building and the art that goes into it.
You said you were called names, whilst people were being restrained in response to your passive aggressive behaviour/comments .
You refuse to acknowledge that you may be incorrect in your outdated opinion of one size fits all as determined by you.
And now you show yourself to be a misogynistic fool with one stupid comment that you most likely don’t even realise what it says about you.

For all those wanting to get your wife a Savage Lady Hunter here is the scoop. I talked to Effie at the custom shop. They are taking it out of general production thus the “discontinued” on the website. However, you can still special order it in any caliber. I suggested that she amend the website to say “special order only” rather than discontinued. She liked that and is going to talk to marketing. That way people know they can still get it. I am hoping if enough people keep ordering they will bring it back!
Here is the good news from Savage! Since I received my Lady Hunter from the custom shop earlier this month two other people from this forum have put in special orders for Lady Hunter guns.
See @Ray B there are others out there that want ladies fitting guns!
Keep ordering your Savage Lady Hunter from the custom shop. If enough of them are ordered Savage may bring them back. My goal!
Effie notified me today that there are plenty of right handed short and long action Lady Hunters available but out for now of long action left handed actions.

So maybe now you will list the measurements that I requested- and not just note a website where only subjective information is provided- actual measurements please.

I have better things to do. I sent you a link. If you are so curious look it up. I am already convinced and don’t need any more proof. It seems others don’t need any more proof either. I also feel even if I send you the measurements you have begged so hard for, it still won’t convince you that women need their own sized gun for better shooting. Therefore, I won’t bother regurgitating information on the website which is at your fingertips.

@tinktink12
Go back to your duties- they are more important than being civil.
And what duties are they? Considering I don’t know you that is pretty presumptuous of you to assume you know what my duties are. Once again, you took a thred that I have some knowledge about and made it personal and attacked me personally and demeaned me. I sent you all the information you need to answer your persistent questions but you seem to lazy to look it up on the website. Do you really feel you are that much better than me to attack me personally?

@tinktink12
Once again projection is chosen rather than simply answering a question. the site noted lists only one measurement- the length of pull. the rest are subjective claims that the stock is proportioned to a woman's physique. Since given proper hold of the rifle the stock doesn't come into contact with any feminine attributes, i see nothing specific as to how the stock is different from the stock measurements that I provided long ago, with the exception of the Keith (a man) designed forward sloping cheekpiece.

As an Australian, being polite/civil to misogynistic senile old fools is not high on my list of things to do, get over yourself, you are not an expert, your comments show that, you become passive aggressive insulting when your narrow views are challenged, in fact I suspect that you are a lonely old fool who can’t understand why the world won’t do as you say, you smugly think that you are right about everything but deep down inside you are scared and afraid of being judged as the incompetent egotist you are.

Target shooting-only? <200 yds? Why get a .22 rimfire AND (.223) centerfire when she can just have one .22 WMR that'll accomplish the mission with 50 rds. of ammo. for the cost of <20 of the cheapest centerfires. Literally more bang for the buck! One also blows through a lot more ammo. when target shooting-only. I do agree with the 6.5CM (AR-10) IF home defense is a possibility. (The .22 WMR will work just fine, too! 'Some fantastic higher-capacity semi-pistols in WMR. They are NOT a puny .22 LR!)

I'll suggest the Browning (have had my Mossberg 640KD "Chuckster" heavy bbl 24" since I was 10! 'Even had it reblued as an adult for 2x the price of the gun!) or the Vudoo which is a longer-range option! :love: https://www.recoilweb.com/best-22-magnum-rifle-options-173577.html

*As a kid, everytime I shot 50 woodchucks at old fam farms (the area of the one is the Greater Kuduland of groundhogs!!!) I'd stack the empty box(es) on a beam inside the barn. My Dad and his friend Meyer demolished that (c. 1875) barn c. 2005ish and I counted well over 1,000 rds in boxes. I would NOT want to get shot by a .22 WMR and "I've known some" woodchuck descendants "that look at me, like" they owe me a Win or CCI 40 gr JHP. That'd more than "leave a mark!" Now I recall about 4 years as a kid not seeing a single one (but that was the mission imparted upon me by farmers at the time.) I just let them be now if they're not harming anything, but I can be cajoled into going out in the long fields in July or Aug by friends that want to practice with their deer rigs in .257, 6.5 (or even larger.) With my history, I'd test out ALL rifles on woodchucks after sighting-in (but .338 A-Sq, .350 Rem Mag and .375 HH-w/270 gr TSXs for varmints LOL were the largest we ever used for such nonsense.) 'Son took a video of the 375 shots! My seagate backup HD is being restored, and I do have it on a CD somewhere, so I can post if anyone wishes to behold. As i recall, it didn't have the typical effect of the 3,500 fps varmint or mag rifle, but it just flipped them into some kind of irrevocable multiple backflip! SMH GL with the daughter's rig(s)! I have one and she still hunts when not working or taking care of patients, soon to be 2 kids and one soldier! Cannot wait to get the grandkids involved....

There’s always the ignore button, I use it.

I agree with your choice excepting one point--that of a short barrel. I say this because many new shooters are sensitive to recoil. A louder report makes recoil seem more excessive, and a shorter barrel is louder--closer to the ears. Of course a can reduces recoil, but a lot of hunters have to buy their own first rifle and a can just adds to cost.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
